I took a great private cooking class with Robert, making several savory Indian dishes and a delicious desert.

I hired Robert Rovegno to plan the menu and cater appetizers for a 50th birthday party. The guest list was nearly 80 persons, and the budget was modest. He asked if I had a preference of food from one country or another and when I didn't, he surprised me by creating items from 5 continents. The food that came out of his kitchen was the most delicious, the most beautifully presented, collection of appetizers and dessert items I or any of my guests had ever experienced. He was impeccably dressed in crisp chef's attire, as were his helpers, and they kept the food table full and the circulating platters coming throughout the evening. He and his crew handled the clean-up quickly and efficiently. Since then, I have ordered his beautiful boxes of handmade chocolates, candied fruit and cookies every Christmas and Valentines Day for friends, family and business associates--and of course myself. I email him a list of recipients and their addresses and they always arrive on time. Not only is the variety and quality of the items to-die-for, but the tins themselves are works of art, custom-designed for him by an artist. Though most recipients rave about the quality and variety of the sweets, I have had a few who complained that once they opened the tin and tasted one item they were unable to stop themselves from finishing everything in one sitting. Robert has a wealth of knowledge about food from different regions, social classes and historical eras and to listen to him describe a dish is an educational experience. I can't recommend Robert Rovegno enough: he's professional, reliable and a great culinary artist.

Happiness is having a first class chef prepare a dinner feast in your own home. Robert was responsive and very responsible. After listening attentively to our food preferences, he came back with several choices. He brought all the food and everything he needed with him. He left his satisfied diners with happy memories and a very clean kitchen. We felt very pampered and so will you.

Every Christmas all of my family expects to receive a tin of the delicious cookues, candy and fruit. Great gift which arrives right before Christmas. Robert not only makes everything with quality ingredients but packs them in beautiful tins....lastly he mails the tins for you. Great gift.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

For either cooking classes or dinner parties I like to find out what the customers likes and dislikes are and if they have any dietary restrictions. For dinner parties how formal or casual they want the experience to be. If they want multi courses or only a couple. For cooking classes I like to find out how much or little cooking they have done. What they are most interested in learning about. After discussing these things then we can work out the menu or cooking instructions.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have over 25 years experience as a baker, chef and pastry chef. I have taught cooking classes for the New York Social Network for over 10 years and have learned how to present my knowledge in concise ways that both beginners and more experienced people can understand and execute.
