Wayne gave me my first bass lesson in probably a decade a few days ago. I told him I considered myself to be a good player but needed to rebuild much of my fundamentals and he took that in stride, helping me through some simple exercises slowly and deliberately while showing support and respect for the progress I've made on my own. I definitely plan to work with him again and recommend you hit him up!

Steve is a true master of his craft and his teaching abilities match his incredible skills on the bass. Thanks to Steve's lessons, I have improved my tone, sense of timing, and my feel tremendously. Steve focuses on the basics and the small intricacies that make a huge difference in my overall playing. Now, when I play gigs, people comment on how smooth and effortless my bass playing is, and I have to thank Steve for that. His approach is thorough, patient, and encouraging and he builds your personal confidence as much as your playing skills.

Sean has given lessons to my 5 year old twins separately 3 times now. The boys really enjoy working with him. We are impressed with how much progress they've made in such a short time. Sean is punctual and professional. He keeps the lessons fun, engaging and productive. He also reviews what they worked on with me so I can help them practice between lessons. We couldn't be happier!

Ron was an excellent bass teacher for my son. He was always professional and reliable, and he actually got my middle schooler excited to go to a scheduled lesson! He helped my son get a good handle on the fundamentals, and also went the extra mile to recommend some particular bass music that he thought he would like! Ron clearly loves music and teaching, and my son loves his lessons. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a double bass teacher!

Richard has been working with our daughter for two years now and has been the most dedicated private instructor. Ostensibly, his goal for lessons has been to inspire her to practice and grow musically. He has gone well beyond that to help her to grow as a human being. I unreservedly recommend Richard as "the" bass lesson instructor in Austin!

Yeah.... I think Billy's an excellent instructor. The quality of his lessons are top notch. He always comes in with a lesson plan and it begins from there, before you know it you're playing a bass riff or two from the lesson you just given. And he also playing along with you. I find it to be a lot of fun, and I haven't had as much fun with learning since Junior High. I'd recommend him to anyone who'd want to learn how to play bass guitar.

Rob was a great teacher- I had zero experience playing the guitar before my lessons with him. He was thoughtful in his instruction and patient even when I couldn't get something right. I learned a lot from him and would definitely recommend!

Nick Miller is an accomplished bassist and musician. He is a graduate with a Master of Music in Double Bass where he studied with me (Mark Morton) as my Teaching Assistant. He also earned the Master in Music in Voice from the Manhattan School of Music. I heartily recommend him as a Double Bass teacher where his students will get top-notch instruction in the foundation of traditional double bass technique, as well as insights into more progressive and modern playing techniques. He's really great guy, too!

I approached Dave for lessons on my electric bass. In a short time, he was able to help me identify problem areas in my technique and make adjustments for more comfortable play. He also guided me through some helpful exercises to improve my knowledge and comfort with my instrument. Communication is very easy and Dave is flexible with scheduling, which I really appreciate. Looking forward to continuing!

Sam was hired to arrange a piece I had written choir and piano quintet. He did a fantastic job arranging the string parts and played in the ensemble with precision and sensitivity. I cannot recommend Sam more highly. He's a talented professional, courteous and responsible. He is prompt and extremely collaborative. Hire him for all your double bass needs. He's great with young bass players too. I hired him to demonstrate the instrument to a class of fourth graders. He's clear, and extremely amiable with students.

About

I am a 25-year-old professional bass player who has been playing and teaching bass for most of my life. I grew up studying classical performance with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and have toured internationally with orchestras in Spain, Netherlands, and Cuba. Equally interested in Jazz, I graduated Berklee College of Music in jazz performance with honors. Throughout my life, I have always enjoyed teaching students and have experience working with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra as an instructor for bass lessons, chamber music and sectionals. While at school in Boston, I held a private studio where I taught students of all ages and ability levels. I also had the opportunity to work in the intensive community program a community outreach music program in Boston, as a bass teacher and ensemble coach. I would love the opportunity to work with you and help you achieve your goals on bass. All the best, Zack
