Introduction: I studied in Suriname with Walter Greaves and years later at the Berklee College of Music with John Ramsey, the author of the Alan Dawson Rudiments book. I Also had a chance to take a few classes with Alan Dawson himself before he passed away. Having toured with many artists in a wide variety of styles such as South American-, North American-, Caribbean-, African rhythms, I can have my students develop a broad feel while focusing on the styles they want to develop.

You could learn the drums anywhere, but not like you would with Harvey. He is, first and foremost, a top tier drummer and musician who has a great wealth of knowledge and years of experience. Secondly, he is a kind, patient man who really tries to get the best out of his students. He would show me an exercise for example that seemed silly to me at the time, that years later I found myself practicing and teaching my own students because it WORKS! I studied with him for around 7 years as a preteen and teenager. I remember his lessons TO THIS VERY DAY (I'm 36 now) and use his methods to perform regularly and teach the occasional student. I could not recommend Harvey any more highly!
