Introduction: Are you looking for a tutor in NYC with years of experience in simplifying math concepts, in a simple, easy-to-understand manner? Throughout my studies as a student, I have found ways to make math easier to learn. My clients consider me as the best tutor that they have ever had, because I can turn a difficult-to-understand concept into one that is much more manageable, and even fun! What can/do I tutor? (exams and subjects) I tutor in algebra, geometry and trigonometry, all at a high school or lower level. Exams include math sections of SAT, ACT, COOP, GRE, GMAT, ASVAB, SSAT and virtually any math section in any middle or high school exam. Integrated Algebra Regents, Geometry Regents, Trigonometry Regents exams are my specialty as well. What is your experience working with students? I've tutored students from Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens neighborhoods. I worked/am working with students from elite public high schools like Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, Stuyvesant, and Lehman College. And I worked/am familiar with private school curriculum of the following schools: Anglo-American, Browning, Calhoun, Collegiate, Columbia Prep, Dalton, Dwight, Fieldston, Friends, Horace Mann, Hewitt, Little Red Schoolhouse, Ramaz, and Trinity. I have worked with students on math courses, but I also tutor science courses like chemistry and physics as well. Where? Generally, my clients request in-home tutoring service, and I find this option the best. The alternative would be the library or a nearby coffee shop. I can travel to virtually any location in Manhattan, and have/had previous clientele on the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Midtown, and Downtown. Availability: I generally have a flexible schedule throughout the year. Depending on the client's preference, I am generally able to accommodate their time needs. Weekends and weeknights are generally best. Pricing: My price ranges from $60 to $70 an hour. Each session is two hours in length. References: Plenty of references from past and current students are available upon request! Please speak with me directly to obtain references. Thank you. Can you speak with me to determine whether you would be the right tutor for my child? Absolutely, and I would love to! A free consultation of about 15 minutes by phone is recommended, so I can get to know the parent and the child's specific needs. Are you ready to talk after you have screened my ad? You may call anytime, but please leave a message if I am unable to answer. I am generally unable to answer during the sessions, so please leave your full name/contact number, and I respond to all inquiries on the same or next business day. Thank you! Testimonials: "Mag wanted me to let you know how she did on her Regent exams: 92 on bio and 88 on geometry! The bio regent grade helped bring up her average in the class to a 90, so she is very pleased! Thank you again for all your hard work!" "I got a 90 on the chem regents! I just wanted to let you know and thank you; that's exactly what i was aiming for, but even I thought that was a little impossible. But it was 100%, because you helped me. So thanks so much." "Nihir is an excellent one-on-one tutor who explains things in a way that makes complicated issues seem more simple and easier to understand. His rapport with my daughter was comfortable, and she felt completely at ease to ask questions and get the most out of her time with him. He has a plan for success, and sticks with it." "Nihir was a godsend to our family! We called him at the last minute, based upon a friend's excellent referral, and he helped our daughter get an A on her 9th grade final math exam. We would recommend him without hesitation." "He just got his scores, and he got a 79 on the geometry regents, and an 80 in his geometry class. Thanks a ton for your help. It meant a lot to him. I'll let you know more about next year in August." "I would highly recommend Nihir to anyone who is looking for a math tutor. I am heading to business school this fall and needed to brush up on my calculus skills. As an English major who hasn't taken a math class in 12 years, I wanted to make sure I found a tutor who was knowledgeable and patient. Nihir clearly explained how to approach each problem, and answered all of my questions. I felt much more confident about my ability to solve calculus problems after working with him." "Quest passed Math, and he received a 75%. It is definitely an improvement. Thank you for your help this year. I look forward to seeing you in September." "Please accept this note as recommendation for Nihir. My son had been struggling with math, which is why I hired Nihir to tutor him. Nihir has been tutoring my son for two years now, and has made a tremendous improvement in my son's performance. He has passed each exam/test since Nihir started tutoring him. I highly recommend Nihir."

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Definitely have at least a 15 minute conversation with a tutor you have thought about hiring. If the tutor is willing to, you can be sure to better understand a child's struggles and even his/her teacher's comments. Depending on how the tutor answers the questions, you can use this factor as a strong factor in your considering a prospective tutor. I will definitely be more than willing to have a free conversation with you to discuss the specific needs of your child.
