I am currently working with Julie Holzman on two bathroom renovations. I started with firm ideas about the look I wanted and Julie has helped me to achieve this, and much, much more. Her advice and expertise along the way have elevated the design in subtle but significant ways, without adding cost. My bathrooms look so much better for Julie's input. I cannot imagine going through this process without her.Mar 7, 2016
We hired Julie as a referral from a friend. We met at our house in the fall hoping to be in place by April 30th. Unfortunately the virus hit, but that didn't stop designing and planning for Julie. Our project encompassed a full kitchen remodel and 4 1/2 baths with a big change to our master bath. We also needed to reconfigure our laundry room to accommodate a stackable washer/dryer. We met Julie at her amazing showroom in Stamford and ended the day at County Appliance to source our subzero/wolf package and LG appliances for our laundry. Julie and her contractor worked together to leave us a beautiful home. I will continue to recommend her to our friends - we love our renovated home!Aug 7, 2020
Julie Holzman of Holzman Interiors designed the new kitchen in my coop apartment, built 1911, as well as two bathrooms. The results are splendid. Julie considered the character of the building, listened to my own thoughts, and designed a kitchen of elegance and gravity that looks completely "meant to be" -- and also has tons of storage space. The baths are beautiful: one is sumptuous and serene, the other is playful and delightful. Julie is deeply experienced and also easy-going and easy to work with -- never a hint of impatience even when I was looking at every white tile in NYC trying to find just the right white. Our contractor was impressed with her attention to detail and quickness in trouble-shooting. They made a great team. As for her design sensibility and taste, it is very refined; at the same time, she is open-minded. It's a winning combination. Working with Julie was FUN.Dec 4, 2015
We spoke at cross purpose at the beginning of a proposed project. However we've agreed with Julie to have clear terms of reference from the onset for future projects. In addition I requested Julie to exercise prudence and not assume I or future clients cannot afford her services based on earlier miscommunication.Nov 5, 2018Verified
We did a whole house renovation with Julie over the last 9 months. We have done a renovation before but not on this scale; we could not have done this without Julie and her excellent team that she brings together. She did the designs for all of the rooms and oversaw the work being done in our home. Her sense of style was excellent and she worked with us patiently until we found the right fit. She was very focused on the details (which really matters!) and she rapidly addressed any items of concern. She is organized, very responsive and extremely accessible (txt, phone, email, etc) this made the process that much easier and faster. The team of subcontractors that she brings in is top notch. We are very pleased with the outcome and look forward to continuing to work with Julie.Dec 31, 2015Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I find that it is best to get together in person and define the project. Today, most people prefer a set fee to be paid in monthly installments. Its hard to ascertain what that fee is without seeing the space and hearing your wishlist. I do work hourly but it doesnt seem to work for most people post 2008.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? When I first meet with a client, I want to make sure they feel comfortable. My client is opening their home to me and it is important that there is a high level of mutual comfort and trust. From there, I begin the process of getting a full understanding of what the clients wants and needs are for their space. It is very important for the designer to gain a full understanding on the clients needs to fully deliver optimal design.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?It is very important to take continuing education classes within this profession. Emerging technologies and changes in regulations are just a few of the things that are contributing to the evolution of design. As an ASID member, we are also required to take continuing education classes in order to keep our affiliation.
