I decided to hire Clive because of his experience and approach to branding. I have no regrets. I gave him very little artistic direction. All I let him know were the themes I wanted to capture. He thoughtfully crafted a number of designs, and then permutations of those designs. Clive took the time to walk me through all of them and explain to me how they all differed. My choice was obvious - in fact it was Clive's own favorite. Clive worked to perfect my choice and I'm incredibly pleased. It's a stunning visual representation of my business and my ideals. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Fees are generally based on $100 per hour, however, when possible, a total 'up-front' project fee is established, so the client doesn't have to concern themselves on timing. Pricing is based on the complexity of the project brief and the discipline required ie. book/album design, packaging, editorial layout, presentation design, advertising, web design and illustration. Fees for branding/logo design are $1,500. Typically, a logo project is divided into 3 phases; Phase 1 -Research, Analysis and presentation of a min 3/4 original ideas. Phase 2: Changes if required, or finessing chosen design and Final phase 3: creation of artwork for reproduction-both for print and digital. A 50% deposit is required with the balance due on clients approval of final copyright artwork files.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?To complete a comprehensive creative brief, so that all expectations are 'up-front'. I usually require a deposit for the first phase of a project which entails analysis, research and first round of design presentations. The second phase may entail finessing the chosen design. The final phase incorporates supplying the necessary mechanicals/artwork the project demands, whether it's for print or electronic production.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a college degree in Art & Design, with over 25 yrs experience in the profession. I am an adjunct professor at NYU, teaching professionals graphic design and Typography. One of an adjunct's benefit is the ability to audit other classes and keep up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques.
