Amber was great. She was prompt, professional and easy going. We are a group of women who do not get their pictures taken or have makeup applied regularly (or ever) and she made us all at ease and look natural and beautifulOct 27, 2018VerifiedMagda's Style Room's reply
Thank you Diana, it was such a great opportunity to work with your company for your photo shoot.
Amber was wonderful in every way -- talented makeup artist and fabulous rapport with our clients. Very professional. We'd hire her again in a heartbeat!Nov 11, 2018Magda's Style Room's reply
Thank you very much Marcia. It was excellent working with you and Dan at Demetriad.com
We brought on Magda's Style Room to handle hair and makeup on a recent corporate shoot we had. Amber did an amazing job! She was right on time, very professional, and did excellent work. She make the client feel comfortable, which was key on this live set. Next time I shoot in NYC, I won't hesitate to call Amber right away!Sep 26, 2018Magda's Style Room's reply

Very unprofessionalAug 16, 2019VerifiedMagda's Style Room's reply
I was very unprofessional Dana. In taking a job offered by you and your marketing company THP based on the honor system. I want to respond reasonably here to your vengeful one star review. Since this last week of chaos you have caused upon me and my freelance business, and my hard work, has been truly an example of entitled bullying. I usually require a contract of confirmation to safeguard in advance the level of professionalism from a new company I have not worked with in past. I did ask by email for some confirmation, but no one responded. Since you personally verified the agreement and time of payment on thumbtack here, I went ahead and took the job, since I had confidence Thumbtack protected their pros. They do not, big money accounts such as yours deem more serious to their operation since I did try to have this false review removed unsuccessfully, and provided much data proving it not to be credible and simply hurtful. Your operation has little organization, no proper email communication etiquette, has or creates delays, sends multiple confusing emails, does not follow through well, makes excuses for mistakes, and is not easily reachable to solve basic problems or challenges. Worse, you make false promises (payment promises) and when questioned, you speak down to people. You deny responsibility when you inconvenience, are caustic, rude and offensive and all by a distant online situation since easy phone contact does not exist. Your crew here in NYC, top notch, young and appreciative. Not freelancers. Since I never met you, nor worked with you on this job that was successful, and my services were praised by your own staff...your review is painfully wrong. Most seriously it is defamation of character onto a small business because you are offended. That is not valid nor kind. I insisted you keep agreement of payment terms. Freelancers do this since often we are not paid when promised and we do not retain lawyers to stand up for our pay. Your Partner Development Coordinator on set for the all day shoot (since you are not present for work/out of country) appreciated and thanked me for my work and expressed gratitude in person and by email after. Your client, California Grapes, thanked me personally, and the star of your shoot, certified dietician Toby Amidor, wrote me a 5 star review here on Thumbtack. I worked with her all day. You and your company are neither kind or ethical and my only hope is that other freelance professionals don't get roped in to the promises you make and the repercussions of doing work for you. You play mean and low so it's not possible to take you seriously, and your company will suffer for it in the end.
Amber was at the studio extra early and we got started right away. She did a very natural look on my make up and hair. When I posted the photo on social media I got a ton of compliments how good it looked on camera. Throughout the shoot, she continually made sure to do touch ups (without being asked) and always made me look my best. I would love to work with Amber again!Aug 18, 2019Magda's Style Room's reply
