Introduction: My therapy license is 001063-1. Couples and individual sessions are online now, since I am not in my office as frequently. Individuals do 60 minutes for $110 and couples may do 60 minutes for $110 as well, or 75 minutes for $120. You all may choose. I am connecting with clients online, on FaceTime, Skype or Zoom, since I am not permanently in my office. Our online sessions are very positive, and previous clients and new ones are doing well online, and have put out many positive reviews! I am professionally and personally experienced and devoted to helping couples and individuals address their issues, increase understanding, and make positive changes. I have tremendous respect for couples to work on relationship challenges, and I bring successful practice to meet your needs. I offer a specialty in counseling couples at all stages, whether you are dating, living together, engaged or married, with useful and positive improvement! If needed, we focus on changing communication, sharing understanding and building trust, and if necessary, strengthening intimacy and passion. As difficult as this may be, dealing with infidelity is one of my specialties with positive results. In addition, helping with anger management, family planning and family relationship needs are addressed and are helped. Working on these challenges or any other specifics you wish, are useful for positive change and growth. Let's schedule a session and begin the wonderful focus on your needs and wants, with my respectful help. I love hearing your stories, and respect your desire to work on sharing your needs and desires. I step into your challenges and help you deepen your understanding, increase self worth and improve interaction with others to fulfill your needs. I am pleased to work with you through the process of exploring your past and present issues and offer guidance that results in positive change.

Marriage and Relationship Counseling

After our first session with Joan, my partner and I developed better communication, and by our second session we were able to reflect and speak about the progress we have made and what we plan to continue for our future. Joan did a great job at helping us understand and listen to each other, and held us accountable for really hearing what the other had to say. We are truly thankful for the help and time Joan has given to us, and we look forward to working together towards our goals with the tools Joan has given us!!

Great quality experience with Joan guiding us through a really tough time for us as a couple. Great understanding and some suggestive thoughts about how to improve our sometimes difficult communication styles. Marijke and I feel a lot was accomplished in a reasonable time. We are very pleased with Joan. She exceeded our expectations.

Marriage and Relationship Counseling

Joan has been very helpful in terms of listening to me and my husband's issues and suggesting helpful ways for us to deal with our challenges and keep moving forward. And she is punctual, quick to respond, and very pleasant to work with.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I offer 60 minute sessions for individuals for $110.00. And 75 minute sessions for couples for $120.00, or they can have 60 minutes for couples as well for $110. If longer time is needed, we will schedule. If you are attending therapy for anger management, and you will commit to 5 sessions, the fee is $105 per session. I don't accept insurance, but if your policy will cover an out of network provider, I supply receipts to submit for reimbursement, and a number of my clients do receive reimbursements. If financial issues are a problem, I will offer you a discount.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

In working with individuals, we will discuss present specific needs and challenges and explore the influence of past history. With couples, the first session is focused on sharing as much information about your individual selves and backgrounds as well as your relationship issues and interaction as a couple. Structuring the sessions so that specific issues are explored without leading to conflict is necessary and helpful. Moving forward, we will address your mutual challenges with respect, in order to break a negative pattern, deepen understanding and lessen aggressive or defensive responses, if needed. We will explore your hopes and needs and work on changes toward a positive path forward.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I have Master's degrees in Counseling Psychology and Education. In addition to mental health training and clinical experience, I have private practice in individual and couples therapy, anger management and family therapy. Yes, there is a constant need to stay informed about research and techniques. Courses, seminars, lectures, etc., are very useful and dedicated experience with a wide variety of individuals and couples and their range of issues is valuable.
