II have been training with Joe for a while now and all I can say is THIS MAN IS THE TRUTH! He knows what he is talking about, takes time to explain things, takes a serious interest in your productivity and growth and makes working out enjoyable. Trust me, I am the perfect opposite of a workout fanatic. Before I met Joe I was as Anti-working out as could be. I tried several trainers over the years but never got past the first session because either it was too intimidating, boring, routine or they were simply juiced up d-bags. You all know the type. I first meet Toks in 2014 when I signed up for first ever, personal training sessions. I have to say that '14 was the fittest year of my life. I trained with Toks 3-4 times a week both in PT sessions and a weekly small group circuit boxing class. Toks is just phenomenal! Toks will challenge and push you without destroying moral. He motivates you & will not allow you to give up (not to say I didn't ever have to modify a set). Toks is a professional & I'm glad to have a trainer like Toks in my corner.
Active Weakends was a perfect fit for my fitness regimen! The training provides a full body workout while incorporating some self defense moves. Luffy really listens to your fitness goals and provides fun and targeted exercises as well as motivation to help you fulfill those goals. I am absolutely loving the results.
My fellow Yelpers, I go here often and have been for years. Hands down the best workout (some instructors are better than others) however all instructors are good. They won't let you slack. Best workout in Manhattan. Moe is the manager here and he is super cool. Everyone is professional and welcoming yet fun all at once. I enjoy this place and HIGHLY recommend for everyone to try out. So many discounts and perks for becoming a member. They have 5 to 6 classes per days accommodating even the busiest people (like me) $20 for 3 classes plus free gloves. Doesn't get better than that!!!!!!
At the time Mr. Musco chose me as a student of this dojo, I was already a high ranking student from another traditional dojo which closed its doors. I was training on my own for a while, but the atmosphere of a traditional dojo was missing. During my solo training, I received in the mail a pamphlet from this dojo and I went to try it out. I took two introductory classes and Mr. Musco decided to accept me as a student on the second class. It was very honorable for Mr. Musco to recognize my previous achievements and rank from a different dojo and allowed me to wear the black belt. However, I started training like everybody else who first steps into this dojo, as a white belt. I received no special treatment and I was treated like everybody else. Now that I'm an official black belt of this dojo, I train harder than ever before. Thank you, Mr. Musco for accepting me as a student of this dojo and to the instructors for training me to my fullest potential.
Shihan Andre is an excellent instructor. He sincerely cares about his students and their progress. He gives tips to help them improve. He gives very practical information for the art of self defense. He also gives history behind the arts so that you can have a better context on how/why to do certain moves. If you want to learn an ancient art, while also getting a solid foundation on protecting yourself, there is no one better to go to.
This is fitness at its best. The cardio, the strenth training, the ab busters... I am truly happy with my waist size. I gotta go shopping for a whole new wardrobe. My my my... I'm happy. My wife is happy.
James is a young personal trainer but that doesn't mean he's not experienced! He's very professional and was on time for every session. I learned a lot from him from strength training to endurance training to kickboxing. He helped me become more fit! He's incredibly patient and gives clear instructions so I was never confused. He's good at motivating as well. I looked forward to each training session I had with James and highly recommend him.
I had my first introductory Muay Thai class with Jojo a little over 6 months ago. I was worried about my lack of experience and being very out of shape. Jojo was very patient and supportive which calmed my worries and allowed me to focus more on the lesson than my fears (so right away Jojo was able to set the tone for me). He walked me through the basics and took care in making sure that my form and technique were correct. Because of that initial experience with Jojo, it helped make it easier for me to decide to continue with Muay Thai training and I signed up for enrollment the very same day. Since then I have always enjoyed training with Jojo. He continues to correct my form and encourages me to push and challenge myself (which I love because he won't let me get away with slacking when I think I am too tired to go on). Jojo also has a crazy sense of humor that makes training with him a lot of fun!!! I am inspired by his love for Muay Thai and appreciate his willingness to share what he knows with anyone.
No time for leisurely conversation or excuses here. He makes sure that I work hard even when I feel like I can't or don't want to. Also very knowledgeable about tailoring your workouts as they relate to different martial arts, e.g. Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, etc. I always feel stronger and faster training jiu-jitsu after our workouts.
There is not enough words in the world to describe how much this great man can help you. A few years ago I thought I was well equipped with my skills, but he showed me so much that I now know I knew so little. Mark can take you up and beyond your goals and is a great mentor and my go to man for advice. He is so wise and talented and I can't wait to train with him more in my future for the world of MMA. I've been training with Sladky for around two years. As a lifetime swimmer, I am athletic but pretty uncoordinated. Sladky has taught me everything I know about boxing/kickboxing and Muay Thai from the very basics like technique and how to throw punches correctly, to more advanced moves (e.g. spinning back kick), taking the time to break things down for me when I need it. Over the years, the types of workouts that we have done have changed based on my interests and Sladky is very perceptive as to what I want to focus on, for example, changing my workout to mostly pad work in the ring when he realized I was lifting more on my own. During our time together, Sladky has continued to push me and challenge me as I have improved. He has advanced my skills and strength by pushing me with more aggressive pad sessions in the ring while consistently reminding me of the fundamentals of my technique when I need it. On a personal level, I feel like Sladky cares about me improving in the ring, but he also takes the time to ask me about my life outside of the gym – something I think is important to build trust between a trainer and an athlete. Our workouts are just the appropriate balance of intense effort broken up by humor, which makes training with Sladky something I look forward too. I am so pleased with how far I have come in my boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai skills. I would highly recommend him to people of all skill levels.

Nick is very patient, knowledgeable and posses a ton of experience both as a fighter (US and Thailand) and trainer. Nick has trained with some of the all-time Muay Thai greats so if you want to learn "traditional" muay thai or just want a great work out, Nick is your guy. I trained with Nick for a few years and enjoyed every session. He's focused on fundamentals and always makes sure you're doing it the "right way". My skills in Muay Thai have definitely increased after training with Nick.

I've been studying Muay Thai for 18 years. The following are five benefits of training in Muay Thai: * Increased Cardiovascular Conditioning I have played many sports and partaken in a large variety of physical activities over the years, and none of them have come close to delivering the cardiovascular conditioning that Muay Thai offers. Being both aerobic and anaerobic, Muay Thai places huge stress on your cardiopulmonary systems. With continued practice, your body will adapt to the demands of the sport, and improved cardiovascular performance is one of the payoffs. * Leg Strength Kicking and footwork play a large role in Muay Thai. One movement that is distinctive to Muay Thai is the roundhouse kick. Learning how to kick strengthens the musculature of the lower body. Every muscle in your lower body will benefit from practicing the various kicks and footwork drills incorporated in the sport. From muscle endurance, force production, agility, to just plain, old, good-looking calves, Muay Thai delivers. 3. Core Strength Core is not a word I like to use a lot. Generally, when someone refers to their core, they're referring to their abdominal muscles. This drives strength and conditioning professionals crazy. Your core is every single muscle located on your trunk, not your damn six pack, but I digress. The rotational nature of all of the movements in the sport truly does strengthen your core. Getting punched in the body will also help a little. Striking, defensive movements, and clinching will all help the Muay Thai student develop a strong core. 4. Increased Hip Mobility It wont happen overnight, but with time, the kicking and kneeing movements of Muay Thai promote increased hip mobility. Having healthy hips alone can save you from serious pain and numerous terrible medical conditions later in life. Just remember to do your foam rolling and stretching. Get an occasional massage, and those hips of yours will feel amazing. 5. Stress Relief I personally think this is the most important benefit Muay Thai can provide. The majority of us accumulate a fair amount of stress during the day. Having an outlet for that stress feels fantastic and can work wonders for your mental and physical health. Let's face it: When you're pissed off at work or stressed about bills, hitting something just feels good. Due to the fast-paced nature of the sport, you cant trouble yourself with worry while training. Youll get hit in the face or mess up the drill you're working on. Practicing a martial art allows you to focus on yourself and nothing else. I believe doing something regularly that detaches you from the daily grind helps you become a happier and more carefree individual.
