FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I love to teach. It's my way of passing on all I've learned in over 40 years in the music business. For me, it's always a way to go back and review the basics, whether it's in composition, vocal production, music producing in the studio or performance. I do most of my teaching in my recording studio high above Manhattan in an elegant setting and try to shape each course to the needs of the student. I'm deeply organized in life and find that that is a huge plus in my teaching work because it makes the classes clear, fun and effective. Most of my classes are an hour and a half. I find this gives the student ample time to absorb the ideas put forth.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You must be driven, you must be passionate, you must love what you are trying to learn. You must be eager to practice, to write, to sing scales, to re-write, to study. It doesn't come easy, but if you have talent, and everybody does, we'll figure out together how to illuminate that talent and get it working best for you. Much of the process, besides the purely technical, is about getting inside you and helping the best of you come out. I believe in helping you understand, as an artist, what is the best of you. It's really a combination of the technical and the inspirational or the emotional. It's about finding that balance between the two. And it's about hard work.
