Introduction: Dr. Weiwei Zhai has been teaching private lessons to students ranging from ages 5 to 80 for the past 15 years. She has taught at Bloomingdale School of Music group classes such as “Keyboard for Children” and “Piano Discovery”, as well as teaching private piano to both adults and children. Weiwei has also taught “Keyboard Techniques” and “Secondary Piano” at the collegiate level at Manhattan School of Music. Ms. Zhai specializes in teaching children starting at five-years old, and has successfully prepared students for auditions and exams such as Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and Royal Conservatory of Music Exams (RCM).
Ms. Zhai has performed throughout Asia, North America, and Europe as a soloist and chamber musician, playing concerts at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Harvard Club of New York City, National Opera Center, Trinity Church Wall Street, Yamaha Artist Services, and Beijing National Library Performing Arts Center. As first prize winner of the Concerto Competition at Manhattan School of Music (MSM), she performed the Scriabin Piano Concerto with conductor Philippe Entremont in 2012. In addition, she has also performed with celebrated conductor Christian Vásquez in Italy. Weiwei has won top prizes in the Kazakhstan International Piano Competition and the Five Towns Young Musicians Competition in New York.
Dr. Zhai began studying piano at an early age and won prizes in major national competitions in China. She graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, where she studied with Manchun Chen. She received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Manhattan School of Music, studying with Dr. Solomon Mikowsky and Dr. Inesa Sinkevych. She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association, Piano Teachers' Congress of New York, and College Music Society. Dr. Zhai is in partnership with Steinway & Sons as an educator.
