Introduction: My goal as a photographer is to capture the moments that speak volumes. Growing up always taking photos, I decided to minor in photography in college and now I am building a darkroom in my little Harlem studio; so for me, photography has always been a part of my life and has always shaped how I see the world. I find myself always framing an imaginary shot or thinking out loud, wow that would be a beautiful photo.
I believe my service stands out because I am very down to earth and I like to make people feel comfortable. I really love that this career introduces me to new people around the city because I think we all have such interesting stories to tell. I tend to frame shots that are romantic and artistically allow the subjects' personalities come through.
Do you remember those yearbook photos you took in grade school with the laser background and the goofy pose with your hand in a fist against your face as if you were punching yourself for looking so 90s? I dressed up like that for Halloween.I am all about being cheesy when I am goofing around, but I really cannot stand photos that look super staged and overly hokey.
For me, I love to give a little direction with posing or placement, but really, it's my job to get the good shot and it's yours to have fun! I want you to look at the photos we take together and smile because you remember what was making you laugh in that shot. I want you to feel special and see your personality in the photos I take.
People always tell me that they are not photogenic or don't like how they look in pictures, but I think that when a person is able to relax and be oneself, it becomes so simple to capture those genuine moments when one's emotions are right at the surface. This is what I love most about photography: capturing the beauty of our complex realities.

Do you want to read about a phenomenal photographer? Then let me tell you about Lauren von Eckartsberg Photography. From the start, Lauren made herself available and walked through my surprise engagement photos plan with me. I was admittedly somewhat neurotic when it came to timing, back story to get my fiancée, Christy, to the right spot, and finding backup locations as I wanted to propose outside. Lauren never once complained about my barrage of questions and requests for her opinion. Not only that, she suggested a perfect backup location in case of rain. Certain people have an uncanny sense of what it takes for the best possible finished product, and Lauren is one of those people.
On the day of the proposal, Lauren was at the spot far before I got there in order to set up and find the best locations to shoot. Not only that, Lauren was so well disguised that when I first saw her I wasn't sure it was her. I imagined it might be another tourist as she had the wherewithal to take some photos of the other people who were at the location in Central Park. Lauren also helped to clear the people from the area so I could have an intimate moment in one of the world's most visited parks as she kindly asked people to clear the area for a few minutes before Christy and I arrived. It worked like a charm!
Now we come to the picture quality. It blew me away! Lauren's photos PERFECTLY captured the wide range of emotion of the moment. From Christy's surprise when she turned to see me on one knee to the pure joy that we both shared as it started to sink in. My big surprise of the day was to have my Christy's family watch from across Wagner Cove (the proposal location in Central Park) and then come surprise her afterwards. Lauren gladly took Christy's mom's contact information and helped them find the location and to locate the perfect spot to witness the event. Lauren also took amazing pictures of the family surprising Christy. The happiness experienced by all is undeniable in Lauren's photos and we'll be able to look back at them and cherish the moment for the rest of our lives.
After reviewing the photos we decided looking at other photographers for the wedding was a complete waste of time, and asked Lauren if she would be our wedding photographer. She graciously accepted and we can't wait to work with her again!
