I needed a window AC installed with a bracket and Varian was quick, on time, and did a great job, even adding some insulation to the install.

Friendly and came on time. Service minded and pricing was competitive and fair. Repaired a leaking stack pipe on the roof.......... wont be sure if the fix was effective until the next rainfall - but Im hopeful it solves the problem. Owner assured me they would come back if there was an issue. I would recommend them.... easy to work with .

What I appreciated was that. He supplied his credentials and policies- this meant to me he was concerned about ensuring a good first impression. I was onsite during the cleaniut and true to his word he was on the roof and cleaning by hand sections that couldn't be cleared by water. I would prefer to see high pressure water to clean the gutters so that is why I rate 4 stars. Nonetheless each gutter was cleaned meticulously and I was happy with the final result. He also provide competitive quotes for gutter replacement (including warranty). I will use again; Fausto and his father are professional and courteous, and promptly tend to their job.

Called him to look at the roof because we thought it was leaking. He gave a good assessment and determined it was our windows, not the roof that were absorbing water. Unfortunately he was quite pricy. He caulked the heck out of the 4 windows in about 45 minutes and charged us hundreds of dollars for it. Then he told us we need to paint it with oil based paint to water proof. For hundreds of dollars worth, I hoped for a complete job (with the paint) but guess not. He also didn't give us a receipt or any written proof of the work and the guarantee was verbal (so really no paper trail at all). Otherwise he was very good in his assessment and the caulk did stop the leaks.

Ripped off and replaced roof and added aluminum trim to exposed wood areas. Edwardo was a pleasure to work with. An honorable man who did exactly as promised, did it well, on time and at agreed price. Clean up after was great.

I had a great experience with these guys! They were friendly, fast and professional. I will definitely be calling Connors and Connors for future projects. I had the interior of my house repainted (5 rooms) and they were neat and precise. They plastered the holes where I had pictures up etc.,helped me move some of the furniture around and repainted (color change). I also had a leak in my roof and they fixed that in the same manner. Very pleased.

Roman is great experienced roofer. I had a big patch of missing shingles on my roof after a storm and I needed someone quick before the next storm. He was able to come out quickly and he fixed it such that the new shingles blended in really well. I couldn't even tell the damage was ever there! His prices are also more honest than other roofers I had dealt with in the past. He is all around excellent. I highly recommend him.

i had an Owens-Corning designer shingles roof installation with skylights and replaced gutters done by Zooguys in Piscataway. Everything from estimate meetings to on site work has exceeded expectations. Zooguys gets a big thumbs up from me. They are on my very short list for future renovations.

Water leak was found around vent instead of my hunch of skylight and fixed that and fixed that. We fixed not only that but also took precaution and made extra coating around other vents and skylights too to prevent future penetrations and all this for less than what others were asking for a single fix! We since have few thunderstorms and no water coming in!

We had a new roof, gutters, a fence and some other small home maintenance work done. The craftsmanship of all of the work, especially the roof, was superbly done. It's a colonial with particular edges which required hand made solutions to bring it back to its natural glory and that is exactly what was done. We were clients and sometimes students, as time was taken to explain the process, materials being used, alternate solutions etc to ensure that we were comfortable with the job. We would and we have recommended All Remodeling and Construction to others.

I hired a waterproofing company for our 13 unit coop in Midtown, Manhattan about two years ago and they did not do the job but left me in a worst mess. The money was taken by them and still leaking into many of the apartments. I went on Thumbtack and found Wilson Gordillo. I called them and he quickly sent a man (Alberto) over to estimate the job. Well, they worked Saturday and Sunday and finished the job. They had drains catches made and crafted in copper and realigned my drains from the roof to the bottom of the ground floor. They repaired my large skylight over the main hallway and I thought they bought a new one but all they did was clean and caulk it to perfection. They also caulked and replace the aluminum on 11 windows that had extensive leaking. They did a bunch more and don't want to over extend this review, but I am so happy I found them and the coop board is overjoyed with the price and the final product of the job. Our coop will be doing an entire waterproofing in 2018 with our new budget and I will be contacting Wilson Gordillo to perform this. Thank you Wilson and thank your wonderful team of workers you sent to finally put this problem to rest. Best, Wesley Westenberg 9th Avenue & West 52nd Street

What a great experience. John explained everything as he progressed. The roof was done in one day as were the new gutters. They weren’t the cheapest (the lowest price was from a guy who never even came to my house which made me nervous). They were nowhere near the highest price. It wasn’t just about price...service and quality mattered the most and Blue Nail nailed that!

I have used New Creation for a number of jobs and have never been disappointed. I’m also a real estate agent and I have referred them to many clients and have always received a phone call afterwards thanking me for referring them. Dennis is the owner and I have to say that not only is his work top notch but he is very professional. He always goes above and beyond, he’s extremely reliable and very trustworthy. He recently did a job for a client of mine who was told that they needed to have there entire roof taken off down to the ply wood which was a very costly job. Dennis looked at the same job and completely disagreed. He put another layer on the roof and my clients couldn’t be happier. I would highly recommend them to anyone and will continue to do so.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
