FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My tutoring rate for 2019 is $280/hour for all lessons. Students can take their lessons via Skype, at my home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, or at their homes (if in Manhattan). Minimum lesson fee is 1 hour for lessons at my home or vis Skype, 2 hours for lessons at the student's home.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Parents contact me by phone or email and we then discuss the student's study needs and their questions about study with me. For test prep, we'll discuss any previous scores and study materials the student might already have in order to plan for the first lesson. I follow up every lesson with a comprehensive email to the student and parent/s, detailing the lesson itself, notes on the student's performance and homework, any concerns (or causes for praise!), new homework assignment and next lesson, if scheduled. Students and parents are always welcome to contact me by phone or email with questions about any aspect of their studies.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Brown University graduate with over 20 years of experience, teaching in person in New York City and around the world via Skype. I previously taught for The Princeton Review, where I was a popular tutor and classroom teacher, and I founded Boston Academic Tutors, producing SAT courses for elite Boston area schools. I lecture on SAT and ACT prep for Summer@Brown University and edit test prep textbooks for Barron's and the "Dummies" series by Wiley publishers.
