Introduction: I help students create the physical conditions for free singing using the Libero Canto approach to teaching. So often students are told to "release the jaw" or "sing from the diaphragm" and while these instructions are correct, actually doing them is usually more complicated because tension patterns are almost always complex. Using gentle vocalizes we'll work through the negative tension patterns so that the jaw (among other things) can be freed and the diaphragm can naturally engage. In my mind, good singing is good muscle coordination and we'll work together to discover that. I love music and singing! I love sharing it with others and helping them to grow!

Singing Lessons

I had a wonderful first lesson with Angela! I learned an enormous amount about the voice with just one session and I cannot wait until my next! She is very warm, hilarious, talented, relatable and intelligent! She knows her stuff. Highly recommend!

Singing Lessons

Angie is an amazing voice teacher!! I have never had voice lessons before so I was so nervous to start. But as soon as we met, all my anxieties went away! As a person, Angie is so nice and warm - and has a voice teacher, she is really helping me open up my voice and expand my range. I am noticing a huge difference in how I sing now versus how I sang before starting with Angie (it's much better now!)! With a mixture of wisdom and humor, Angie patiently works with me each week to help make my voice the best it can be. I am learning so much about my voice and my body! I highly recommend Angie for voice lessons!

Singing Lessons

Angela is a great singing teacher. She’s very patient, warm, and gentle in her approach to teaching. It’s hard to find teachers in general who are mindful and in touch with themselves and thus with you, the student. I have so much I can say but this review will get too long. I highly recommend Angela as a singing teacher if you want to learn in a way that’s outside the box but will lead to the most natural, healthy form of singing. She’s magical!

Singing Lessons

Angela was really friendly and patient, and just a total joy to work with. She takes a deep dive into the fundamentals to get you progressing on the right track. I wish Angela had been my vocal coach as a kid! She’s encouraging and can explain those aspects of singing I previously though unexplainable. A++++++ 10/10 :) book her!!

Singing Lessons

Angela is great. In only two lessons, I see my daughter engaged and she even asked me to have more lessons a week.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I have had experience working with different ways to teach singing and the most important thing is to determine what works best for the student. The first lesson will be getting to know you and your goals as well as how you respond to different types of instruction. Singing is very physical and teaching it is about understanding how you, the student, interpret instructions in your own body. It's a process of constant growth and discovery and I will shift our work as your voice and body need.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Masters Degree in Music from Mannes College. I've been studying singing since I was 18 years old and in that time I've encountered different teaching styles and worked through many of my own vocal issues. I continue to study with other voice teachers and coaches all the time and am also a performer, so I understand the issues that can arise from performance anxiety and how to work through them.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

To really learn to sing you not only discover your voice, but yourself. Keep an open mind, be willing to work, and be willing to let go.
