''Although it's very easy for people to just click 5 stars, and even everything on the list of "things I like," I can't stress enough how fervently I feel about those choices. Branden is a special person, in that he truly does have an extremely advanced work ethic. Branden cares most about the work and getting it right, which, as a producer, is everything. I never have to worry that he will cut corners or phone it in. If anything I have to talk him into moving on sometimes because he needs to feel it's right. He takes the work very seriously, but he's also fun to have on a set. He never complains, and I've seen him carry a giant rig for hours without a peep. He prepares thoroughly, is always on time or early, communicates in a timely way, and is a steal frankly (given the incredible quality, which I'll outline separately).
Branden's work stands apart from his professionalism. Yes, it's nice to work with someone who is so competent and reliable, but his work is also phenomenal. Again, Branden cares about the work he does and sees everything as a reflection of himself. Because this work is his passion he spends every moment that he's not on a job researching, learning, and finding ways to make the work even better. Branden is a quiet guy, like many people behind the camera, but his ability to tell a story through his work is remarkable. Many of my clients are very moved by his work every time they watch or show it. It compels the viewer to consider the subject matter more deeply because he sheds light on it in ways that make people see it from a different and at times very unique perspective. He just has such great insight and a refined pair of eyes. He can make the most banal events (weddings, conferences, etc.) look thrilling; he knows exactly what shots to get to make that happen, and is diligent about getting them.
I met Branden five years ago, and have not worked with another DP/cinematographer since.
