Introduction: All levels welcome! Lessons available online globally and in person in NYC. I love sharing a passion for music with my students and helping them grow to be the best singers and performers that they can be. There is nothing more rewarding to me than helping a student realize their full potential and break through a barrier to accomplish something they otherwise never thought they could. My personal performance experiences as a professional singer and actor continually help me develop new methods to coach students on ways to give their own performances spark and life, as well as to help students combat stage fright and performance anxiety. My classical training and technical base combined with the musical education and exposure to an incredibly wide variety of styles at Berklee College of Music has provided me with a well rounded teaching philosophy for healthy singing in styles ranging from Pop, Jazz, R&B and Country, to Rock, Motown, Soul, Blues, and Musical Theater. I work with all ages and all levels: my students have ranged from absolute beginners to professional performers, and have varied in age from five to seventy years old.

Mara is abuslotely great! I’m a beginner and knew nothing about singing until I started working with her. She’s super flexible and is able to work around my complicated work schedule. As someone who is very shy and normally quiet. She is very inviting and make learning from her a comfortable place.

Mara is great and makes you feel really comfortable. Singing in front of someone can be really nerve racking whether or not you have sung before. And Mara is able to help bring down that wall. Overall I really enjoy the lessons!

Mara is everything we wanted in a vocal coach. I have a wild fear of singing so I wanted a vocal coach that’s not just talented but kind and patient and Mara is not only incredibly thorough but she is SO nice and immediately diffuses any nerves you might have. I learned so much in just our first lesson. She’s an absolute gem and so accommodating. We were lucky to find someone so skilled and with such a warm personality. You can’t go wrong :)

I took voice lessons with Mara for about a year and only stopped because my work schedule was making it difficult to meet regularly. I can't rave enough about her patience, outgoing personality, and knowledge. She had this way of making me comfortable from day one, which speaks volumes since I had a bad experiencing singing in front of others as a child. I could not recommend Mara enough as a voice teacher--she makes lessons something you look forward to each and every week! I wouldn't take lessons with anyone else.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lesson pricing is $60 per 30 minute lesson, $75 per 45 minute lesson (online only), or $100 per 1 hour lesson. Payment is accepted by cash, Venmo, or Zelle.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to take a few minutes to chat with new students to learn more about them and their vocal goals, as well as any prior training/musical experience. Then we will get straight to work! Lessons are highly tailored to each individual based on their level and needs, but the general structure consists of a quick stretch, followed by breathing exercises, a solid vocal warm-up and technical exercises, ear training, and work on songs and building repertoire. All styles of music are welcome.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in Professional Music: Vocal Performance (summa cum laude) from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and am a graduate of the One Year Acting Conservatory at T. Schreiber Studio for Film & Theatre in NYC. I continue to take voice lessons privately and am a member of the Actors' Equity Association.
