Llise and Zo worked with me to organize my daughters 1st birthday party and had wonderful experience overall. Llise was so helpful from the first email to the last. She emailed me with all little details to confirm everything. She answered every single question I had with patience. Llise gave me great discounts and amazing surprise video montage after party plus wonderful tips on party planning to save bucks so I can stay on my budget. My party was hit among my family and friends. Decor, all arrangement was beyond my expectation. All in all good experience and great people to work with. I will definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

How our Service Stands out: It stands out because we take pride in our work, and make each event as unique as possible. We build a good business relationship with our clients, seeing that their needs are met; we shoot unobtrusively and achieve the best in candid, natural shots without them looking too posed, too stiff or too boring. We have no problem shooting alternative families or neutral gendered couples. We could get your most cantankerous guests to smile! Having fun with people I just met and creating work that is significant to their lives. WHY DO WE CHARGE MORE THAN OTHER PHOTOGRAPHER/VIDEOGRAPHERS? Now occasionally, to fill our empty dates or when a client postpones, we can offer majorly discounted rates on our services. So, if you are doing a "last minute" event, let us know - you may just luck out. That being said,as with any other job, we get paid for our time—but not just the time behind the camera. Truth be told, that’s only a third or so of what we put into a shoot. You have to consider that a WEDDING shoot up to 15 hours! That includes travel to ceremony space, venue space, park or outdoor venue photography, capturing reception and cocktail hour, and if the bride and groom are preparing in two locations, then there is travel there! Of course, travel from last point to home also adds time. After the days' photo and/or video sessions, we have to go through the images and not only select the best out of hundreds of shots, but also edit them. Editing doesn’t always consist of spot-removing blemishes, often times it is more about alterations in color and exposure of the shot. Those things are vital. Proper retouching techniques that preserve image integrity take time. Automated systems of image manipulation often leave damage that render the file unusable for high-end commercial work. Proper basic retouching does take longer and there aren’t many good shortcuts. We won’t even address the advanced methods, I don’t believe there is an accurate way to break down the time involved. That said, we usually spend a day per 200 photos selecting and performing basic edits. So if there are 600 photos - then that is more than a day. For video editing, it is an hour for every MINUTE of footage. So you do the math. If we edit 2 hours of footage - that 120 hours average of time AFTER the days' we've spent prior to your shoot and there is time spent rendering and pressing DVD's. Even a cracker-jack editor who can edit the footage in a day and a half, has challenges. Add color correction, effects, sound, adding photo montages -- well, it's obvious that this is definitely a talent that is worth investing in. Ask yourself: If Michelangelo painted a portrait of you, would you question why the price of the piece is so high? No – because no one else could paint like him, and as the saying goes: “YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.” Of course we have expenses and those are often far higher than what people expect. Yes, they do play a role in what we charge, but in the end you are paying the photographer because of their visual style and what they can do for your career/event and how they can make memorable and fabulous photos for years to come. The bottom line is that regardless of what we charge, if you don’t have enough faith in yourself to invest in your dream, why would anyone else? And, at the end of the day, it's up to you. If you want the best, it's worth the investment. "Cheap" is a relative word. If you want "cheap" - you will NOT be happy. After all, when it comes to your wedding day, your fashion/ talent out-takes, your gala event: If you go "cheap," DO NOT expect excellent work. Be prepared to settle for LESS. And in our world, "LESS" is NOT in our vocabulary. Be blessed! Your Photo/Video/Media Team LUMINARE

    Q & A

    • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We custom design packages according to our clients' budgets. We also have sale packages at a set price which includes many media services. So there are a lot of variables. Most packages average from $2,000 to $4,500. So, with us, the sky is the limit, but we won't turn away a smaller budget. As with any professional videographer and photographer, you can't expect to pay less than $1,000 for basic services. If your budget is too low, we recommend you contact your local technical art schools and universities to hire a student photographer or videographer. Though they don't have the work experience, they do have the latest equipment and can probably give you a reasonably good work for a lower cost. Always ask to see their work.
    • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We first speak on the phone and then meet in person. Based on those 2 experiences, we set the plan in motion with a signed contract and a 50% down-payment. We build trust with our new customers, and send emails of ideas and decorative and photo-taking plans so they know what they are getting. There are never surprises! They are informed every step of the way. We usually gift a free pre-shoot or engagement shoot for packages above $2500 and $100 credit towards print items.
    • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We are college and technically trained in New York City. We have degrees and certifications in photography, videography, print design and party coordination. We try our best to keep up with the latest technology and update our equipment and software yearly in order to provide our clients the best possible products. You never stop learning!
