About this pro

How does your service stand out?

I take real care to respect and enhance a storyteller's voice. My background in theater really helps me do this and working for years as a teaching artist makes it easy to communicate. That's the key to producing a great final product.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

Working as an independent contractor gives me flexibility to be available and engaged with my kids. A creative and ever-changing collection of projects is great, too.

David edited my book, consulted with me on the publishing process, and engaged other professionals on my behalf to create a finished product. His work was more than outstanding, I could not recommend him enough. I can honestly say that I am probably happier with David than I have been with anyone else I have hired for anything. If you need this type of work done, David is your man.

DAVID was enthusiastic, extremely responsive, and offered many practical suggestions on my 100 page novella. I may call on his expertise again.

I had a great experience with Write for life, David T. I would work with him again on other projects in the near future. As a beginner writer, he listened to my voice, and develop the style to a professional level. Thank you.

When I first started writing my memoir, I didn't know where to begin. How do you take all the pieces of your life, and make sense of them in a significant way to interest readers? When I began work with David, he sort of acted like a therapist, listening to me, and helping me make sense of things. He didn't act as writer, but more encourager which gave me the confidence to start writing. He just told me to write, and once I was off, I could start to feel a direction for the book. He came up with chapter names, egged me on, asked questions. We met regularly on a weekly basis for a while, and for a while, I had a hard time making myself sit down and write, but after a time, he began giving me homework assignments which held me accountable, and made me write. David was aware that I wanted to do the writing myself, so he never got in my way, and just helped with editing in the beginning stages when I didn't have an agent or publisher. My book has been out for over a year now, published by Seven Stories Press, and I am grateful to David for believing in the project, and for seeing it come to fruition.

David was a great help in editing my book! He was able to organize the ideas and get all of the touches done that I, as the author, was in far too deeply to see! He did fantastic job and Crystal Child is now a reality we can both be proud of!

David Tabatsky edited my book which came out in January. He worked with me about a year. He was a joy to work with, not only because of his expertise in editing, but because he is such a kind and compassionate person. He was always willing to go the extra mile. He is a very creative person and comes up with many great ideas.

David edited all three of my books. We've worked together for about four years. He is thorough, has a clear vision of what will work well and cares deeply about the end product.

David Tabatsky is one of those rare individuals in modern day publishing who consistently shines in all three of the industry's most fundamental criteria: writing, editing and administrative skills. He would be an asset to any organization seeking someone whose love of words is matched only by his proficiency at putting them together.
