I'm an experienced guitar player in the blues and rock vein, and wanted to stretch my ears and abilities into jazz. Josh is the perfect teacher for this, because he plays all those genres, and knows how to blend them. He's patient, and tailors the lessons to the individual. Whether you are an experienced guitar player or beginner, Josh will help you play better, and make it fun.

Barb's Continuo Home Music Lessons provided home lessons to my son. Not only was the instructor very talented, but they knew exactly how to interact with a young person to keep his interest throughout the lesson and encouraged practicing beyond the lesson. Barb is always prompt and goes out of her way to accomodate scheduling issues.

Kevin is a great guitar teacher! He's a very experienced musician and it's fun listening to him talk about music. His enthusiasm and passion are evident. He's quite academic about his teaching and focuses on teaching the basics, integrating theory and technique. I am a beginner guitar player and Kevin has been methodically teaching me the basics rather than jumping into playing songs right away. He's laying a solid foundation which is very important if one is interested in learning to play properly. He is very patient and overall it has been a pleasure learning guitar from him.

We hired James to play instrumental guitar for our mom’s 100th birthday party. Frankly… he was great! On the day of the event he arrived on time, set up quickly, and got right to work. He played a wide variety of music throughout the afternoon including music from the 1940’s, exactly as we had requested. In addition to being a gifted musician, James was professional, competent and gracious to all of our guests. He was a pleasure to work with. James, thanks so much for a job well done!

Over the coarse of 6 or so years Chris Schreiner has given me countless one on one bass lessons. Not only is he a personable guy, he always finds inventive ways to help a student succeed; Professionalism (on time, proper equipment, and real life experience), clear articulation (Terminology and Explanations), and positive attitude will not only encourage you but motivate you to do well. His versatility is also a plus. He has no problem catering to peoples musical needs no matter how far out it may be. All in all, great guy, great teacher!

We are very lucky to have found him. He is definitely the best choice in guitar teachers.(Tom Callari). John is very easy going and very accommodating to our hectic schedule. He always finds a way to make time for us. I have fun at every lesson. (Sophia Callari)

Rob is an excellent instructor and takes a personal interest in honing both your technical skills and your understanding and appreciation of what transforms a sequence of notes and chords into music. In addition to lessons, Rob is extremely generous with his time and goes out of his way to organize jams that allow students to learn to play in a band setting.

Yeah.... I think Billy's an excellent instructor. The quality of his lessons are top notch. He always comes in with a lesson plan and it begins from there, before you know it you're playing a bass riff or two from the lesson you just given. And he also playing along with you. I find it to be a lot of fun, and I haven't had as much fun with learning since Junior High. I'd recommend him to anyone who'd want to learn how to play bass guitar.

Guitar Hangar is a full-service music store, with a wide selection of instruments from beginner to high-end instruments at competitive prices. More importantly, they focus on service after the sale -- including repairs, maintenance, accessories and perhaps most importantly for new and intermediate musicians, lessons. Rick has been my go-to guy for more than 10 years, and I give him and Guitar Hangar my highest recommendation.

Charles, the teacher, strikes just the right balance between teaching me things every guitar player should know and letting me decide what to learn. Since I started taking lessons as a beginner one year ago, I've improved, learning finger-picking technique, soloing, new chords, and much more. Charles is extremely motivating, we study together the songs and adapt it with respect to my skills and also to be more personal. He is very professional, responsiveness and dedicated to his students. He is a great teacher, fluent in many styles, has a thorough knowledge of music theory, and keeps classes fun and very interesting. If you're looking for a warm, friendly and professional class to learn to play the guitar, this is where you want to go.

Arthur is an excellent, very well-rounded, guitar instructor. He is very knowledgeable in quite a few aspects of guitar playing - from music theory, playing different styles, transcribing, to all the guitar gear and technology stuff. He has a nice studio, and is also very accuracy oriented, which I really like. I'm into learning to play the blues, rock and metal, and Arthur has been really helpful with that. Highly recommended!

I've been teaching guitar for seven years to students of all ages, skill levels and backgrounds. I teach technique, songs, theory, chords, note reading, songwriting, soloing and everything else related to the guitar. I normally charge $35/hour, but may charge more if I have to travel a significant distance, or sometimes charge less if you have to travel a long distance. I also have been tutoring high school students in earth science for three years. I will be graduating this May with a BS in Geology and Environmental Science from SUNY New Paltz. I have 4.5 years of experience working with teens as a youth counselor and a lot of experience tutoring earth science both to college students and high school students.
