- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a BA in Health Sciences from Stony Brook University. I have an extensive background in rehabilitation. Between volunteering and working in various clinics and facilities, I have about 10 years of experience. In that time I have worked with every population; children, adolescent, adults, older adult, post-op, amputees, athletes, Multiple Sclerosis, Scleroderma, Cerebral Palsy, among others. I went on to get certified with ECA World Fitness as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I went on further to get nationally accredited through ACE as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I am also TRX qualified.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I got started working as a physical therapist aide. My original goal was to go back to school to become a physical therapist. However, I noticed the same patients would return with the same injuries. I realized that no one showed them what to do once they left. I thought I could make more of a difference as a Fitness Professional teaching injury prevention than a physical therapist treating injuries.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?Always check credentials. Check to make sure they're certified. Make sure the certification is legitimate and up to date. Look that person up in their directory (ACE, NASM, etc.)
