FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always loved everything hair, makeup, art beauty! My mom and grandmother are stylists so I grew up surrounded by the beauty industry. I had several other interests as well so I went to college and pursued a bachelors degree in Family Services. Helping people has always been important to me but after graduating college, I couldn't get the idea of doing makeup out of my head so I headed to makeup school in sunny south Florida, soon after moved back to NY and then decided to pursue hsir as well. I love it. I get to make people feel special on their most important days.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of customers from brides, to prom girls, and their families to professional models.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My advice would be to ask the makeup artist to show you examples of their work. If they have no pictures then something is wrong. Also, price is not the most important thing when looking to hire a makeup artist. In most cases you get what you pay for, so if you hire an artist just because they are cheap chances are they do cheap work. Ask your potential artist several questions. What kind of makeup do you use? What are the benefits of this sort of makeup vs other makeup? How long will the makeup last for? They should be knowledgeable about the service that they provide. Also look for someone with a good reputation. Makeup artists are known for being sort of "flakey." Make sure the person that you are considering is a professional and act likes one and shows up on time. One more thing I would recommend before hiring a makeup artist is to schedule a trial. If you need your makeup done for your wedding, test out several artists before the big day!
