James is a Pro! Needed two doors installed in non square openings and needed it done fast. James fit me into his busy schedule the same day! Project was picture perfect when done. Definitely a 5 star Pro.
Walter is a true professional, very skillful and precise to detail, as well as a gentleman. I hired Walter for a smaller project of reseating an exterior back door. He met me at my home to look at the task and give me a price which was competitive to the other professionals on this site. He was able to confirm right away that we needed to reinstall the door with the proper support. He told me what materials were needed and I went to Home Depot that evening to pick them up. 10 minutes at HD and I see Walter loading a couple sleds with material for another big job. I say hello and he stops everything he's doing to help me run around the store to gather the material needed for my project. Two things should stand out to someone hiring someone for a job. 1. This guy works and he must be good to get a project this size and 2. His selfishness in taking the time to help a client gather the right stuff. He shows up on time for our appointment after first calling me 30 minutes prior to meeting and says he's on his way. He was very prepared and put down proper drop clothes to protect everything from debris and dust. I'm that annoying homeowner that likes to watch what's going on and Walter didn't mind at all. He informed me of every step along the way. We ran into a slight issue which took a little more time than we both expected but understandably that what usually happens when you're fixing someone else's mistake. At the end of a full day he had removed the pre hung door, inserted the proper headers, replaced the footers with pressure treated wood, patched the concrete meeting the footer, waterproofed the footer, reseated the door, and trimmed out the finishing with the casings I bought to match our windows and a saddle. My wife and I are very happy with the outcome and as I told Walter, we will be calling him for other projects. As a homeowner you only wish that someone will take the time and not cut corners, as if the work they were doing was on their own home. We feel that way after working with Walter. Thanks again!
Replaced a front pre hung door including lockset. Everything seemed to go well
He was amazing. He installed our entry door and storm door. Very patient and did the job right. Very helpful and fair pricing. I would work with him again.
Great job overall. My fence broken in a storm and Herson and his team was able to fully repair it. The repair required the removsl
Nelson and his associate did an excellent job on installing my shower door, after my contractor couldn't finish the job due to loss of man power ,I texted thumbtack and less than 24 hours later I had four bids and his was the best , he had nice reviews and did a great job for me.He was very meticulous, and I recommend him to all of you.😎
Glenn Scelza is a godsend. My old friend desperately needed help of a good carpenter to come and assess the benign neglect on the front of her antique home. Garage doors needed to be installed post haste, but the garage door company needed the repairs to be made first. I posted on Thumbtack and Glenn responded immediately. Glenn arrived and I could tell right away what a nice guy he is and is a seasoned carpenter/contractor. He assessed the project with a trained eye and zeroed in on what was good in terms of the construction and what looked bad to us, was very doable indeed.. He was very resourceful and made use of what could remain and shopped locally which I loved, for lumber, gutters, leaders and even found the novelty clapboard pieces to match the 1940's facade. He was very fair and open about what things would cost along with his craftsmanship which was worth every penny. I appreciate he could even work with us so late in the season even as winter weather set in. He will be present right after the holiday weekend to connect with the garage door people. When those vintage looking doors are installed the place will regain its curb appeal once again, thanks to Glenn. This guy is a keeper and I can see why is highly recommended! I add my recommendation to Thumbtack as well as our neighbors in the community. I look forward in working with Glenn on future projects. Thanks Glenn! Norm Peekskill, NY
We had chosen Marco based on his excellent reviews, but unfortunately we didn't have the same experience as most people. We hired Marco to replace flooring tile in our kitchen, foyer, powder room and laundry room. With the exception of one day where he had to cancel, he did arrive between 8am and 8:30am with a partner and they got to work right away. They were quiet and respectful, but the language barrier was an issue at times. Prior to starting the job, we had mentioned to Marco that although we weren't concerned about the walls since they were being painted, we did request that he be careful around the doors and wood trim which had been painted recently. After he was done, we saw mastic and grout on not just the doors and trim, but also the base of our kitchen cabinets. He wiped off a lot of it, but I continue to find it as I'm cleaning. I do wish he had been neater perhaps taping up a plastic or paper to protect the base of the doors and cabinets. We had also pointed out many areas where there was hazing on the tiles left from the grout not being cleaned off immediately. He tried to remove some of the haze on his last day, but it had been too late to wipe it off without using a haze remover. I wasn't planning on writing a review since his price was reasonable and the items I've mentioned can be cleaned up. However, a few weeks into the job and the grout is now coming out of the joints in pieces. I've attached photos of where I was using a lightweight stick vacuum to clean the kitchen floor and the grout just got sucked right up. When I went to investigate, the grout just crumbles into powder when you pick it up. I'm not a tile expert, but it seems like perhaps the grout that he used in this area was too dry? I'm pretty frustrated at this point because I keep finding little areas here and there where the grout has just disintegrated. I know there were areas where they had not fully scraped out the mastic between the joints and just laid grout on top (which I know isn't proper), so they went back and scraped out some of these areas and regrouted, but even then, this should not be happening. It's been exactly 3 weeks since he finished the job and the grout should not be coming up like this so easily; it's like powder. The cracked grout is throughout the floor. I can't even say it's concentrated to one area, so I don't know what happened, but it's very disappointing.
All hiring aspects went smoothly. Found a better date for the work then anticipated. Even an unscheduled surgery did not prevent these guys from finishing on time. Made good/excellent repairs to a window and front door. Would highly recommend!
The guys came to give me a quote within 30 minutes of me submitting the request for estimates. They fixed my garage door today and did a great job!
L&P did an outstanding job with a very tricky project in our house. We added a new basement door where none existed so it had to be framed and installed so as not to disrupt the staircase and entryway. They were able to give an estimate within 24 hours and finished the job perfectly in two days. We recommend them highly.
Remove old kitchen cabinets, install new upper and lower kitcheer cabinets, above stove microwave, formica countertop and sink. Joel was professional, has a great work ethic and did a fine job. I would highly recommend him.
Needed a Spring on Overhead Garage Door as it had snapped - Following Mark's suggestion we replaced both springs - He came at the time agreed - He communicated via text twice before his arrival for the job - the work was professional - meticulous attention to detail - he undid a piece of work because it was not exactly as he wanted it to turn out which added time to the job - However the price he quoted was what he asked for - besides which he was a pleasant and engaging person. I Highly recommend Mark Messina.
They were Amazing! I would Highly recommend them. They did a beautiful job. The door and windows are So nice.
Bryan did an amazing job with my front door installation! He was very professional, informative and cool to do business with. I would definitely recommend him to anyone and plan on using him for future work.
I recently hired Dan and his crew to install three doors for me. They were able to come do the job the next day, when I had been told there was at least a 6 weeks wait with another company. They were the epitome of professionals and quickly and thoroughly installed the doors. Dan even used his expertise to give us ideas for remodeling our kitchen. He gave us a quote for the kitchen work and we hired him immediately. He rearranged his schedule to fit our needs. I highly recommend them for all of your contracting needs.
The quality of Jason's work and his willingness to start the job were both appreciated and very good. The negative issues we encountered were his project clean up and then his neglect to call as promised or keep subsequent appointments. He asked to leave a small amount of clean up of dust unfinished due to being behind schedule for some other appointment. The amount of dust left for us to clean was expansive and had been allowed to enter a closet through an uncovered louvered door and coat the contents of the closet.
Tom showed up on time, picked up supplies for us even spending his own money and did an excellent job installing door and floor trim in our basement. We highly recommend him.
Out of 6 Thumbtack referrals, Scott gave the most professional response so even though he wasn't the cheapest, I hired him. Best decision I ever made! He responded to my email with detailed responses of potential solutions to my problems, confirmed the day before and arrived promptly. In three hours he fixed 2 doorbells, a flourescent light fixture, installed a dimmer switch, did a Home Depot run and repaired a leaky faucet. He also noticed a repair needed to my kitchen door and did that as well. He was quiet and cleaned up everything - not even a speck of dirt on the floor! I have several spring projects I will be calling him for - highly recommend if you're looking for a respectful, professional, knowledgeable handyman who does good work for a fair price. Thank you Scott.
Our experience with Ken was wonderful! Ken installed two exterior doors and storm doors as well as framed out and interior doorway in our home. He was very professional yet personable and his price was competitive. He clearly has years of experience as his work is very very good. We are very happy with the work Ken did and will definitely call upon him in the future to do the many other projects on our list.
I had an incredibly difficult window replacement that caused two other large scale window replacement companies to come by, leave, and not even provide an estimate. Enter these guys, they showed up, professional, very polite, and responsive... and they got it done. To truly appreciate the scale of these windows, they are 91" x 53" - Bigger than your front door. Yes... Look at your front door, imagine bigger, than look at your windows, and imagine attempting to replace them. Not only was this done very well - it was done 70' above the ground on the 6th story of a Condominium! A-MAZ-ING I will use them for years to come. I am not sure how this website works - but feel free to ask me any questions you may have. Thanks and Take Care, Ron
