Open Square: Architecture & Interior/Industrial Design is an absolutely amazing privately owned company. The two masterminds behind the creative designs are Mihai and Camelia. Not only are they professional, but they go above and beyond to make their client's dreams a reality. Recently, they just finished the implementation of the design for my one-bedroom apartment. With limited space and resources, Camelia and Mihai were able to assess what I wanted and built the design around my budget. The process was very streamlined: they sat down with me in my apartment, took measurements and asked me questions of what I wanted my apartment to look like. They started with color and picked out several colors that resonated with me. The colors inspired the design of each room; each having its own charm. We chose apple green for the kitchen; a color that invigorated the senses. The focal wall in the living room was painted mulberry; one wall that filled the room with positive energy. For the bedroom, Camelia loved the built-in molding, separating the ceiling from the walls and wanted to highlight it. That room was painted slate (wall and ceiling included, leaving the molding white) promoting serenity, peace and relaxation. I also told them my need for storage and they incorporated functional pieces, shelves and furniture, in order to facilitate my request. As we began the transformation process, Camelia intermediately sent me emails to review unique pieces of furniture and accent items that she suggested we integrate into the apartment to give its distinctive atmosphere. They worked diligently, timely and always kept the lines of communication open. The final product: a magnificent space that not only embodies my personality, but created a place I could call home that exudes endless imagination and positive energy. I have never seen an apartment in NYC like mine and I am in love with it. Camelia and Mihai were able to create something so unique and delivered an unmatched client experience. My space was designed specifically for me and me only. Its a place more than home; they took my dreams and made it a reality. They are the only duo that I know that could have possibly made it happen and for that I am very thankful I found them.

Open Square did an absolute amazing job on my apartment. Mihai and Cami were able to take my ideas, add to them to make them better than I ever could have thought...and then have collaborators execute them perfectly. Plus they were a lot of to have around! As a wise client, I looked around and met with a few different people about doing the work. They pitched different ideas, but Mihai and Cami seemed to get it. They even did a 3D movie that walked me through what the space looked like! We refined the designs and then I now have an incredible desk, bookshelves, DVD library and wardrobe using a combination of new and reclaimed materials. Now I have the apartment that I adore!

The project was to design a new marketing office, within an almost 2 weeks deadline. I enjoyed working with Camelia very much! I think she has a great sense of style and she understood exactly what I needed to accomplish. She helped me to get the job done very quickly and the ideas worked perfectly. The custom black window sills are just surreal (by the way the installation took exactly how much was estimated). I would not hesitate to contact her and the furniture department again when I would need this sort of help again. C.

Camelia and Mihai helped me with the design of the Dukan Diet Office. I felt very lucky to be connected with them, because they understood what I want right away, and they did a great job. They were extremely careful with deadlines and the quality of their work. Guys from Open Square are not afraid to do something that hasn't been done before! I highly recommend this team to work with.

Hired on Thumbtack

One of the worst experiences I've ever had! I hired Mrs. Man to help with a little re-decorating and turn my apt. Into a space that really flowed. I knew exactly what i wanted I just needed a "perfessional" to give there feed back on the choices I made. Going off the pictures and her companies website they looked as though they really had a lot of experience. Very early in the process we decided that the way to really make my space flow better and work with the existing colors was to re-upolster a couch I had. Mrs. Man kept raving about her company and that her team re-upolsters different pieces and have done so for a while.. This ended up all being a lie! I gave her company my couch to re-upolster and they totally ruined it. So bad that the couch stared splitting on the seams, fabric started bunching in areas and there was a big hole in the area where the sectional was to line up. This was all in the first day I had it back. When I called to explain there were serious problems, and this was not done perfessionally. Mrs. Man explained that she was a designer and that I didn't know what looked good because I was not. Long story short Mrs. Man and her team have done no schooling in this field, never taken a class, and have no credentials. And this all came to fruition when I took Mrs. Man and Open Square Design to court and won nearly every penny I invested in there company. It was quite an ordeal. All I can say is this company will take you for your money and has no true experience. Look elsewhere!!!

Ms. Flores, thank you for sharing with us your sincere opinion. We are truly saddened that we couldn`t count your project as a success. Our company offered you several times the choice to reviewing its work and correct all minor issues that were causing you dissatisfaction, but you chose to solve everything with the help of an arbitration company (not the Court); the result might or might not have been the same if we were indeed the Court. Please understand that all our professionals have enough experience and education so they can successfully activate in the field of design or other related fields. Although you might feel different, our thoughts and actions were always towards your satisfaction.

What types of customers have you worked with?
When it comes to our clients we take it from "head to toe". First we sit on a little chat to discover what you really need and how you expect us to deliver it. The next step is to come up with at least two different proposals, which will be refined by your decision. A third step will imply shopping session and delivery of the goods. We are also used to supervise construction sites and conduct quality check verification on different types of work a site might have. We care about your opinion, so when everything is done we`ll ask for a honest feedback and some pictures for our portfolio.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My one and only advice will be to actually hire a professional when redecorating or remodeling a space. And when I say professional of course I mean good credentials, good referrals and great portfolio for the person to be hired. All these requirements are default.You will know which one to chose after a short discussion face to face.
