Joe responded within minutes to my request. He came the same day and completed the 220 dryer installation plug in about 30 mins. He also was kind enough to replace my smoke detector battery and noticed my washer was leaking water and fixed it. I would definitely recommend.
I had Jeff come out to my home to provide me with an estimate for a full bathroom installation in my basement. He was incredibly detailed and took over an hour and half of his time to listen to my needs, perform measurements and explain different facets of the project and options available to me. He later emailed me a very detailed estimate. While we ultimately chose to go with a different contractor, I would have felt very comfortable going with Jeff for my project.
Got the pleasure of having Nathaniel and Glenn complete my project (Installed french drains inside basement, removed a badly installed pavement surface and replaced with a drainage ditch). He was very punctual, responsive and organize through out the entire process. The work was completed on time and without any crazy surprises. Everything was on paper, explained and verified by me before the project was complete. I recommend and would hire Nathaniel and his team again without hesitation.
I needed help replacing a light fixture. Matt was able to locate the issue right away and explained what was wrong. He was able to fix everything very quickly. I would highly recommend him for any electrical work.
Randy has performed work for me for more than 20 years. That work has included all aspects of construction from the footers to shingle cap. When I was in the custom cabinet and woodworking business, he did all of my installations, and always made my work great. Randy is honest, hard working and his integrity is beyond reproach.
Never used a service like this before so I was nervous about hiring a complete stranger. I am now so happy I found Brian through Thumbtack. My projects turned out to be more complicated and time-consuming than expected but he took the time necessary to troubleshoot the problems and corrected a dangerous wiring situation as well as satisfactorily completing installation of a new outlet for my AC. Brian was professional and courteous, arrived as scheduled, and charged a very reasonable amount for his work. Would 100% recommend him to others seeking help with electrical as well as handyman-type jobs. Thanks Brian and Thumbtack for saving the day!
Needed a ceiling fixture replaced. Quote was accurate work was done in less than 30 minutes. Responded promptly to my call and came as promised. Courteous and reliable.
Dave has recently done a variety of jobs in my house as I prepare to potentially place it on the job market. It included everything from painting hallways, and bedrooms, to installing light fixtures, lineoleum, and wood trim/molding. I have known Dave as an outstanding student leader at RIT, and also as Manager of Taylor Rental. He is easy to talk with, takes good notes, and has the technical experience to the jobs for which he commits, and commits only to those jobs he can do. Unlike some handymen that I have had in the past, he shows up! And he is on time. Moreover, while Dave may be new to the Handyman profession, he is not new to the exprience of extended home repairs, as evidenced in the beautiful home where he and his family live, done mostly by Dave's renovation skills. Not only is he skilled, but he has the right tools and equipment to do the job properly; if - when working on a job - he sees a repair that needs to be addressed, or some instructions that are counterintuitive....he stops, (calls if need be), texts, or asks. He can juggle multiple tasks: for example, working on a repair, while waiting for the paint to dry. His estimates are pretty accurate - and if not, he lets you know as soon as they come to light. At the end of each day, Dave cleans up and neatly puts equipment and supplies away. Finally, he is trustworthy. My projects required an extended time, and I work during the day. I gave the key to my house and he would let him self in, and out as required each day. I strongly recommend him.
I needed two light fixtures replaced, one in my dining room and one in by bathroom. City Gate was very responsive and came out the same day to give me an estimate. Their prices are on par with other electricians I've used in the past and I would say it's reasonable. They came in a few days after the initial estimate to do the install. I found them to be friendly and professional. I would have liked my bathroom fixture to be installed slightly lower but they did not have the wire with them to make the extension. They also gave me a quote to upgrade my panel and do some other electrical work. I thought the quotes for the other electrical work to be a little high but the panel upgrade seemed like a fair price. I would use them again in the future for the panel install and would recommend them to friends.
Tom cleaned my gutters. His quote was excellent, work was exceptional and his timetable was perfect. I plan on using him for a plumbing project and an electrical project for another job.
temporary repair of old sump pump to keep from flooding in basement. bill then installed a new submersible pump. I am very pleased with his professionalism and would hire him again.
We hired Larry to remodel of kitchen - complete rip-out of old cabinets and installation of new ones. His workmanship and attention to detail and accuracy is tremendous - so the kitchen look gorgeous! One small issue that you need to be aware - sometimes Larry's time gets pre-empted by other (unrelated) issues, so make sure that you are flexible with your deadlines.
Tim was not 'the' least nor 'most' expensive. having said that, he and his workmanship were still a great value. We came across a few problems with the job (due to cupboards not being level from a prior installer!) but Tim was able to find a means to solve the problem so we could continue with the project just the way I wanted it to look. A pleasure to work with him, and we would use him again when we need home repair/improvement projects.
Installed a new glass patio door including taking out the old one. Jimmy may not always be exactly on time every time, but if running late he will update you, and he will complete the job well even if takes longer than he thought and he will make sure it looks right. He had to come back a second day due to scheduling conflicts, but he came back and finished the job even after he had the money for the job. I recommend him and would use him again, and in fact intend to for another job soon replacing the gutters.
Paul installed a new electrical panel and service upgrade in our home. Paul is efficient, meticulous, and all around outstanding electrician. We have called him for several other smaller electrical jobs, and could not be more satisfied with his work.
I highly recommend Ted. I did put a review out there for him. Installed my new dishwasher quickly quietly and was very flexible to work around my time.
Steve has done multiple home improvements & renovations for us. He efficiently and cost effectively installed a new energy saving furnace & hot water heater which both had energy rebates. Steve suggested options for ceramic tile flooring he installed for us along with ideas and details that gave the project a clean, updated look. Steve is a polite and accomodating professional with experience in many areas of renovation. We would highly recommend him
Eric did an excellently job installing recessed lighting in my living room (amongst other work). He showed up on time, was professional and honest when completing the work for me! I would definitely recommend his services!
Rick Mincer - RAM Construction Rick - assisted by his son Richie - worked on a house we bought while we were on vacation in Florida. The house is a 3 BR Ranch on a village lot w/an attached 2 car garage & covered patio. Built in 1964, the house was purchased "as is" and was in the process of being fixed up after sitting unused for around 10 years and having had a roofing problem that caused some interior damage. We had RAM complete some of the water damage work prior to doing some major remodeling in the MBR & Bath. The bath was totally remodeled with all new fixtures and drywall. The MBR received a new sheetrock ceiling replacing the orig. 12" sq tiles and repairs to the walls before redecorating. The Kitchen was gutted and a complete new Kitchen with all new appliances was competed next. In the process of working on the kitchen, the boiler on the heating system failed and we decided to replace all of that system with a new forced air furnace. RAM worked with Main Plumbing & Heating on that project and also supplied temporary heat by setting up some temp electric heat units in the basement. RAM worked for us for 3 months - while we were in Florida - our input was to visit Lowe's and pick out things we wanted and they picked them up & installed them. We're very pleased with Rick's work and plan to use RAM to remodel the 2nd bathroom and do some more work on trim & prep for getting other areas ready for paint, in the next few weeks.
We hired Steve to install 2 lights next to a mirror in our bathroom and remove the old light above the mirror. He came to look at the job the same day and did the work two days later. He was very professional and knowledgeable. His price was very reasonable. He did an excellent job and we would definitely recommend him to our friends and family.
