We had a yellowjacket nest next to our side door. After we requested a quote, Swarm got back to us almost immediately and we discussed our problem in near real-time. In contrast, other local exterminators couldn't be bothered to even return our calls. We went with Swarm and are glad we did. Though a busy time for them, they arrived promptly and handled the problem professionally and swiftly. They even treated other potential areas where additional infestations might occur. Overall Swarm was excellent and I have nothing negative to say about them (to my wife's surprise)!

I contacted Scott around noon and he came around 4:00 to take care of the hornet problem we had. He also sprayed other possible places of entry along the canape and went around our entire building to check for other possible hornet problem areas. Scott is not our "go-to" pest company.

I’m so glad that this company was able to assist me with my pest issue so quickly! After finding the pests invading our home, I contacted several exterminators to find the best price as I’m getting married next year and am on quite the budget. Anytime Pest Control gave me not only the best price, but a 60 day guarantee to go along with it! Rich also responded to my inquiry within minutes, responded to any and all concerns and questions I had in less than two hours, and fit me into the schedule within 24 hours of my inquiry. I can’t say enough about Anytime Pest Control. I would recommend them to anyone for any pest issue at all!

Whenever I have a need for pest control, the company, from the office manager to the technician is right on Target(so to speak!). Pleasant demeanor, professional all the way from my phone call - to being here as soon as possible. *(in particular, last summer I had a "strangely" located nest of bees in a flower bed. The technician diagnosed and treated them within a few hours. Value for the price of service is reasonable and the best around town.

The difference maker for me in deciding to hire Jason was his approach to the transaction. First, he was extremely responsive to my initial post on Thumbtack requesting a quote. Second, he made it a point to come out the same day to meet me face to face and look at the job BEFORE quoting anything. I was impressed by how punctual he was for this visit. After explaining his approach to pest control and his philosophy of focusing on satisfying the customer, he thoroughly inspected our home inside and out for possible entry points and signs of rodent activity. Then he listened to our wants and needs and explained various possible solutions to our rodent problem. He took into account that we have two dogs and are often visited by our grandchildren in recommending various feeding stations and traps and how/where he would place them. It was not until we had a complete picture of what he would do that he presented his quote. His pricing is reasonable for the value we are expecting (ultimately the proof of value will be in the results). But more importantly is that he did not pressure us into any particular plan. Instead he proposed options, explained a maintenance plan, and allowed us to decide. The day of the job, which by the way could have been the very next day, he arrived about 15 minutes early after notifying me ahead of time that he was on his way. He once again explained what he was going to do and completed the work in about an hour and a half. It entailed placing a dozen feeding stations indoors and outdoors plus several snap traps. He plugged and sealed three exterior entry points. All of this in sub-freezing weather. Once done he showed me where he placed the stations and traps. He willingly changed the placement of a couple of snap traps and replaced a couple of feeding stations with lockable feeding stations for added precaution against grandchild curiosity. In a nutshell, I was very impressed with Jason’s professionalism, his customer focus, and his entire approach to the job. As a result he gained my trust and confidence and I look forward to a continuing work relationship throughout the next year as he executes on our quarterly maintenance plan. If I could have selected all five options on this survey I would have, but unfortunately it limits you to three. Definitely this was a 5-star beginning to what I hope and trust will result in a resolved rodent problem.

Josh showed up right on time. Job was completed within 45 minutes. Sprayed extra area around pool deck. Explained not to power wash house for a few weeks so chemical is not washed away. Advised a second treatment may be needed if box elder bugs return in fall.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How do you get bed bugs and how do you get rid of them?

The increase in bed bug infestations in the U.S. is a result of increased travel, lack of knowledge about preventing infestations, increased resistance of bed bugs to pesticides, and ineffective pest control practices, explains the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s easy to mistake bed bugs for carpet beetles or similar-looking bugs, so infestations are often not noticed when they first occur. Prevention tips include keeping areas free of clutter, regularly washing sheets and mattress covers in hot water (and don’t forget to wash the laundry bag, too), and vacuuming regularly and safely disposing of the sealed vacuum bag. Not everyone has reactions to bed bug bites, which also may be mistaken for the bites of other pests such as mosquitoes, so timely bed bug extermination depends on identification of bed bug activity. If you notice physical signs of an infestation, contact a bed bug extermination professional as soon as possible to learn about chemical and non-chemical (such as heat) treatment options. An integrated pest management plan may incorporate one or more methods.

How do you get rid of termites?

The best way to get rid of termites is to act fast. Termites are a problem that will only get worse — and no matter how much you want them to, they usually don’t magically move out on their own. There are three main types of termites: drywood, dampwood and subterranean. Drywood and dampwood termites sneak through cracks in your exterior paint, nail holes, and gaps near windows and other openings and begin to eat through your wood. Subterranean termites enter your house from the ground up by creating mud tunnels. In all cases, they survive by eating the wood of your house. The type of termites you have can steer the treatment plan.

Methods of termite extermination include fumigation, use of pesticides, and use of natural elements that are poisonous to the bugs. The extent of your termite infestation will help determine the treatment method. If you have drywood or dampwood termites that have infiltrated all aspects of the wood in your home, the pest control pro may recommend enclosing the whole house in a tent and gassing the termites via fumigation. If you have subterranean termites, often the entire footprint of the home must be treated by drilling liquid treatments into the slab or foundation of the home to exterminate the colonies. In any case, once you see signs of termites, it’s time to take action and call a pest pro.

What are the signs of termites in your home?

When you see signs of termites in your home, call a trusted pest control professional as soon as possible to handle the situation. Termites feed on wood, meaning they eat through the wood that makes up the frame, floors and other components of your house. Most people don’t know they have termites until they discover the damage done, because termites remain hidden underground or inside the wood they are eating. Keep on the lookout for these signs of termites:

    • Water bubbles in your interior or exterior paint: If you poke at what look like paint bubbles and find termite droppings inside, it’s a sign of termite infestation.
    • Frass: This is a fancy term for termite poop. Keep your eyes peeled for what look like six-sided salt and pepper droppings.
    • Mud tubes: Subterranean termites move between their earth home and your house by building mud tunnels. Mud tubes under or along the side of your house or foundation are a sure sign of a termite infestation.
    • Wings or swarming near your home: As a new colony is looking for a home, they fly (swarm), then shed their wings and burrow into nearby wood.
    • Softening of wood or hollowed-out wood: Termites don’t like paint, lacquer varnish or other wood finishes, so they’ll eat inside the wood and leave the exterior finish like a shell.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
