I've been around a few NYC dance studios (BDC, Alvin Aileys, etc.) and private instructors so I feel confident in the following assessment of Dariusz. So far I've attended a few private salsa and hip hop dance lessons with Dariusz since this spring and found his style both enjoyable in terms of keeping the mood and feeling positive, while still providing solid technical and engaging feedback that would improve my dancing and general performance. Dariusz rises to the top as someone who puts more than the average amount of thought and preparation not only into his material, but how he delivers his message. His methods, presentation and information are all rock solid. His awareness of technical terminology, basic dynamics, combined with a desire for excellence means he creates lessons that are just challenging enough to help you create a solid foundation and to have fun in the meantime. Dariusz is one of the most well-trained, reliable, and most experienced salsa & hip hop instructors in the NYC Area. I recommend seeing him whether you are an absolute beginner, like me, or a competitive professional. Keep up the good work Dariusz! Best, SC.
We highly recommend Arati if you're thinking of dance lessons. We are working with Arati for our First Dance. Arati is such a sweetheart, and has a bubbly personality that can make anyone smile. She's been extremely patient, and great to work with for first-timers like us. Even my fiancé, who was lukewarm about taking lessons, really enjoyed the classes!
My friend and I have a strong passion for dance and wanted to exceed our level of dance and express it wherever we go. We had our first dance lesson with Miss Tonisha and was impressed in how much we learned in such a short period of time; we learned a mix of hip hop, Latin and modern dance. We loved her passion and enthusiasm in empowering women and making them come alive and strive through dance. She was so much fun to be around and personable, and her professionalism was impeccable. ~ Andrea
I didn't know what to expect when I signed up for Miki's adult hip hop class- and I was pleasantly surprised! So much fun from the beginning, including a warm up, learning new moves every week and working on a choreography piece! Miki is patient with beginners and also knows how to make the class challenging for more advanced students. A great teacher and you don't realize how much of a work out you are getting as it is simply fun to move Hip Hop style! Highly recommend her classes.
Learned hip hop with Monika. She's great at breaking down seemingly complicated moves into basic parts. You can also film the moves to practice at home!
I am brand new to Salsa and Paulina approached our lesson with patience. She is a phenomenal teacher and I feel like I've learned so much after only one lesson already. I look forward to continuing my lessons with Paulina and learning Salsa!
I was looking to learn some hip hop dancing techniques, but couldn't travel too far from home. Fortunately, Kara Edwards was right around the corner and consistently kept in contact with me via Thumbtack until I arrived for my first lesson. Kara is an excellent instructor! She is exceptionally kind and taught at a pace I was comfortable with. I learned essential hip hop techniques in the first few minutes that would improve my moves. After completing the first portion to a dance routine, we concluded our first session and Kara gave some great recommendations. I enjoyed my session very much and plan to continue dancing with Kara. Thanks to Thumbtack I am on my way to dancing into a happier me.
My fiancé and I were looking to hire a dance instructor to help us put together a cool, hip-hop type of first dance for our wedding. We seriously could NOT have found someone better than Alex. Hands down. Not only is Alex an incredible dancer himself, but he has an ability to put you at ease and make the experience of learning a new dance incredible fun. My fiancé and I definitely had different ideas of how we wanted the dance to look (I wanted the dance to have hip-hop moves, and he wanted more of a laid back look). Alex had a way of putting EXACTLY what both of us wanted together, so that we were both extremely satisfied with the look of it! Also, neither of us are INCREDIBLE dancers (we try =)) but Alex has such amazing patience with us. He teaches moves that look professional and makes difficult moves easy to master. He also listens to what we want and always offers tips and advice, but makes certain to have the look of the dance fit what we are looking for. (We can sometimes be sticklers, but Alex has no problem rolling with it). And maybe most importantly, Alex is SUCH a people person. He's easy to talk to, work with, and communicate with--which is always important. He's completely on the ball and really goes above and beyond with making sure we feel good and comfortable with the lessons and with the way the dance looks. I could truly go on and on. I've taken dance classes and performed before, and worked with at least 7 different instructors, and I wouldn't have chosen anyone else to help us choreograph our wedding dance. I honestly feel so lucky we found him. If you're looking to have a fun time learning an awesome dance and work with an instructor who can completely pick up on your needs and craft and customize things according to what works for you--Alex is your guy! If you're thinking about hiring Alex...don't hesitate, absolutely do it. You will NOT be disappointed. He's truly the best. THANK YOU ALEX!!!!!!!!!!
I have been training with J9 since November 2015-- and her class is one of the highlights of my week. She has an in-depth technical, somatic, and virtuosic knowledge of Hip-Hop that allows her to relay information and the breakdowns of movement in an incredible way. I appreciate that every class we drill grooves and exercises that help the students gradually become more proficient and unafraid of doing dances that might seem daunting. She teaches at an Adv-Beg./Slow-Inter. level, and challenges the students with choreography that forces them to push themselves physically and intellectually. At the same time, J9 reinforces the need to relax and trust their movements. She always makes sure to end the class in a freestyle, makes students aware that at the core of it all Hip-Hop is a free styling call and response social dance. That it was created to be a conversation not done in front of the mirror-- but in the club, the party, the park, and anywhere people gather and chill. I just wish I could take more of her classes!!!!
My Daughter has been dancing with Revelations for 10 years now. The Artistic Director has the best imagination and it shines through in the recitals. My son loves the boys hip hop class. I have seen my children grow not only in talent but in maturity since dancing at Revelations. Being apart of the competition team taught my children the essence of team work. It's not only a dance studio it's like being apart of a family.
