Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have been a full service residential and commercial general contractor for over 35 years. I have recently downsized my business. Starting in 2019, I am only doing residential and light commercial repair, remodeling and addition projects. I'm tired of the commercial construction rat race. In commercial construction, almost nobody says thank you at the end of the job. Commercial and government construction jobs are all about the lowest price, get it done fast and then wait to get paid. For many years I enjoyed participating in commercial and public jobs that hundreds or thousands of people would see and appreciate. But now I prefer to focus on working with homeowners and small business owners, getting that thank you at the end of the job. If a homeowner or small business owner has professional plans (drawings and specifications prepared by a licensed architect or engineer) I will be glad to bid on the project. I can also design a project and have a licensed engineer review my plans and stamp them if required for a building permit. I have had several residential customers tell me that my price was not the lowest but they felt the most confident and comfortable with my design, the thoroughness of my written proposal and ultimately they were pleased with the final product. I stand by my motto "high quality work at a competitive price." I do not take short cuts to save a few dollars. Remodeling contractors are notorious for taking short cuts on plumbing, wiring, ductwork, insulation, subfloors, etc. I feel that what's behind the walls and under the floor is sometimes even more important than what the customer sees as the final product. Remodeling an older home can be especially challenging to update what's behind the walls and still keep the character/ architectural style of the older home. This is one of my specialties. My specialties for home and small business remodeling include kitchens, bathrooms (including ADA compliant toilet rooms and bathrooms), family rooms (including gas fireplaces), basements, attics, master bedrooms and offices. I will also do smaller repair or installation jobs when I am available and in particular for existing/ repeat customers. I always prefer if a customer calls me directly and we talk for a few minutes rather than going back and forth several times with e-mails. I prefer very limited texting. My written proposals are very thorough and I pride myself on never having had a dispute with a customer over the quality of my work. I hope I may be of service to you.

This contractor originally received 5 stars from me back in May - that is until he decided to take on other work (which he promised he would NOT do) and showed up to my house for only 2 days in the past 2 weeks. We are having a wedding in my yard and are under time restraints. He was hired to install a sliding glass door (including trim inside and out along with insulation), install an 8ft X 3.5ft trex landing, relocate hot water heat on the sliding glass door wall and install a toe-kick heater under our kitchen sink and relocate a hose spigot. Toe-kick heater is in, sliding glass door is in, plumbing and heaters are not installed, trex deck is not installed, door is not capped on outside, sheet rock and finished trim is not installed inside. Andrew possesses very little communication skills with his clients (says he will come on certain days, many times will not show up or even call) and when he does show up at 4 or 5pm, may only work for an hour or two because it is already too late in the day. Andrew does, however, do excellent work - I will give credit where credit is due - when he decides to show up--but good luck with that. It really pains me to write this review because I hate to hurt anyone's business, but I am in the unfortunate position of having to hire another contractor to finish what Andrew started, and I would hate to see anyone else go through this ordeal. He has been using my garage as his personal tool shed for the past 2 weeks - coming in on certain days, just to pop in unexpectedly and say "I came to pick up some tools for another job"and then leave after he loads them up. I guess he takes me for a fool and doesn't think I should be angry? I am NOT a happy camper right now!

Bader-Lueki Industries, LLC's reply
2 days after this customer wrote this review he paid me $1,200 for extra work that was not part of our formal written contract and later agreed to delete the above negative review. Thumbtack would not allow him to delete or modify his review. This is a big problem with Thumbtack. I had another week to complete the project, as per our agreement, when the customer decided to hire another contractor. When I left the job for a few days, I left everything neat and functional. I was also waiting for the customer to make decisions about the decking material that had to be special ordered. The wedding in the customer's back yard was still at least 3 or 4 weeks away. I also had the customer's permission to use his garage to store tools and materials for his job before I started. I feel that I did a very good quality job for this customer at a very reasonable price. I was paid for my work. I do not owe this customer any money and he does not owe me any money. I'm sorry he is not happy. I feel that he took the stress of his upcoming marriage out on me. I think that's fairly obvious from what he wrote. On balance, I have many outstanding reviews on Thumbtack and very few dissatisfied customers. 'You can't please all of the people all of the time.'

He rescheduled me 3 times and then never showed up.

Bader-Lueki Industries, LLC's reply
You've got to be kidding. This customer had very minor water damage to a ceiling in an unused bedroom for 8 months. She said she was in no rush to get the work done. I gave her a very reasonable price but said I would do this job myself as a fill in between other jobs. I called to cancel one time. I sent an e-mail to cancel the second time. I did not reschedule 3 times. The next week the customer said she would be home all week so I thought that would be a better time for both of us to fit in a day or two to do the job. AGAIN, I TOOK NO MONEY FROM THIS CUSTOMER AND I DID NO WORK FOR THIS CUSTOMER.
