FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
With the wide variety of work we do, the easiest way to approach cost is knowing ones budget. Next is how long are you planning on staying here in the property? For a "free" estimate, we use digital data gathering services (estimating software) to provide a low, high and average costs for materials and labor. This also scopes out the inclusions and exclusions for your project. Bottom line: We build in and provide value-added service for all our customers.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initial estimates over the phone are free. Photos are always very helpful in refining that estimate, otherwise if a visit is required for an on-site evaluation, we would have to stop by when in the area or schedule a specific time. Flexibility is key as billable labor time is how we make our living and we do intend to remain in business. If a specific scheduled time is required for estimate, this comes with a drive out charge that would become a deposit at time of hire and appears as a credit. If not hired, the money covers the cost of time and travel. Many people who do not work for themselves don't understand that and figure "it only takes a minute." When you multiply that time hundreds of "minutes" (which are typocally 30 minutes plud each) you can clearly see the impact of the costs involved with estimating. The ideal is a site evaluation. I will look for the problem along with the cause of the problem or determine the best way to introduce a new install or other modification to correct the problem (s). At time of hire, we provide written estimate. A deposit or retainer will get you a date on the calendar with a time window of arrival. On the scheduled date we always contact with an in route eta, so you can always feel free to go about your business as usual... and let us "Make the problem go away."
