Introduction: At the Law Office Of Judy E. Lukose, you will find experienced, compassionate and personalized services. We offer a full-range of legal services specializing in areas of divorce and family law. We cater to the following cases: * Custody With a custody case, a litigant must be aware of the different forms of custody that a court may grant in the State of New York. It can get expensive and complicated. The standard of granting custody can often be vague and confusing. You need a lawyer that will fight for your rights as a parent and educate you on the definitions of custody. This is what Judy E. Lukose does. * Child Support The court will take a percentage of the non-custodial parent's income for child support according to the child support standards act. In addition, the court can direct you to pay for mandatory add-on expenses. How can Judy E. Lukose help you? We can make sure you get what you are supposed to get and do not pay more than what you should be paying. * Uncontested Divorce Do not make the mistake of doing your divorce on your own. An uncontested divorce is when both parties are in agreement with the terms of the divorce and consent to placing the matter on the court's uncontested calender. This will move your case along faster. We can help you by preparing all the documents properly and filing them properly. * Contested Divorce A contested divorce is when one party does not agree to one or more terms of the divorce. Often times, court appearances are necessary. Judy E. Lukose has years of experience fighting for her client's rights. In addition to the above, Ms. Lukose handles separation agreements, prenuptial agreements, grandparents' rights, paternity and orders of protection. Call now for a free phone consultation!

FAQs

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently handled a custody case where I represented the Father. Mother, who had custody, suddenly passed away. The child had been living with the Mother and maternal grandmother and Mother's boyfriend. Both the boyfriend and grandmother filed for custody. We started the trial and the grandmother saw she did not have much of a case. She ultimately consented to my client having custody!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When hiring a family/divorce lawyer, do not be afraid to ask questions. You have to trust your lawyer and know what she is doing. Make sure you are comfortable with your lawyer and that you are in sync with each other. You have to be on the same page with one another.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Being an attorney is very gratifying especially because you often have the capacity to change the law. Many times , I advocate not for the parties, but to create precedent. It makes my job worth it. Often times, people get caught up in their own emotions in family or divorce court, but as the attorney, it is the law that really matters. I try to get the best result for my client given the law which applies.
