FAQs
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently handled a custody case where I represented the Father. Mother, who had custody, suddenly passed away. The child had been living with the Mother and maternal grandmother and Mother's boyfriend. Both the boyfriend and grandmother filed for custody. We started the trial and the grandmother saw she did not have much of a case. She ultimately consented to my client having custody!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When hiring a family/divorce lawyer, do not be afraid to ask questions. You have to trust your lawyer and know what she is doing. Make sure you are comfortable with your lawyer and that you are in sync with each other. You have to be on the same page with one another.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Being an attorney is very gratifying especially because you often have the capacity to change the law. Many times , I advocate not for the parties, but to create precedent. It makes my job worth it. Often times, people get caught up in their own emotions in family or divorce court, but as the attorney, it is the law that really matters. I try to get the best result for my client given the law which applies.
