Wendy Dunn reviewed an early manuscript of my science fiction/time travel novel over the course of a couple weeks. I asked for a reader response to the plot, the narrative flow, and the development of the main characters as well as any major problems she saw in other areas.
Wendy gave me what I asked for. She showed me how my main character was too underdeveloped to be interesting as a protagonist, as well as encouraged me to develop another supporting character who had emerged from the manuscript as I wrote it and became an energetic and interesting person in the narrative.
I wish I had had a more complete manuscript when I used Wendy's services the first time. I would like her to assess my manuscript again after I have finished my rewrite with an eye toward helping me get it ready for publishing.

I am an adult novelist. I enlisted Wendy's help in reviewing my fifth novel. She wrote a wonderfully helpful and insightful review that is enabling me to look at my novel from a fresh perspective. She understood what I am trying to do and her input was geared towards improving my work, moving it forward, deepening it, rather than correcting it in some way. She gave great feedback on everything from the big picture (plot, character, etc.) to the little, but very important items (showing rather than telling, etc.). I found her recommendations to be clear, articulate, and on the money. I think that as I integrate her feedback, my novel will be much better for it. Wendy was very helpful to me. She brought things to my attention which other writers with more experience would have known about, but I did not. It would have been unfortunate for me if I had continued to query agents without Wendy's help. Because of her guidance on my first two chapters alone, I was able to make significant and necessary edits on my YA manuscript.
