Its unfortunate we've tried to reach out and the response back was untimely. Updated review Good morning Mr.. Sam. T. Karras You were not hired by me. This I want to make very clear to anyone interested in hiring you.. I've never been interested in anyone on Thumbtack before, until you. If my "raiting" was suppose to be for a service then it was a misunderstanding by me. However with that being said I tried to reach out to you and my husband attempted to call you. On a Sunday I asked a question about references, you responded right away. There afterwards my husband called and left a message at 9:11am to be exact. You then left me a message at 6:17pm. Saying you never received a phone call from me. On Tuesday I sent you a message with my husband's # asking if you can reach out to him at your earliest convenience at 11:58am. We didn't hear from you, on Wednesday at 2:13pm I sent you a message asking if you were available to speak to my husband. No response, then on Thursday I requested through Thumbtack a phone call request at 3:09pm. Friday it said phone call declined 6:30 pm. saying your sorry but you've took on another contract opportunity. Then another message right underneath saying Thank you for your patronage, good luck. This was was at 9:30am. At 9:50am I wrote a review that states in Thumbtacks policies that pertain to the pros interactions. Mr Sam T. Karras left a message with exclamating profusely saying that wasnt very nice and then mention something about a phone replacement? That was never brought up before.Aug 19, 2018VerifiedSoterios K.'s reply
You clearly marked me as hired in an effort to write the review ; 10 minutes after I told you, at my earliest convenience that I had to decline. ( due to my phone being replaced- accidents happen ya know.. weather or not it was brought up; it's really non of your concern) The point is simple ; you flat lied about being hired; Then in haste / fustration for me declining... You wrote the review. Nothing profuse about it... I was trying to be responsible... Now I'm very happy I declined; regardless of your review. Facts are facts... Anyone, can see for themselves regarding the timeline of messaging between us themselves... Good day, and Good luck with your project.
Sam installed a very difficult Pro 3.0 Series 16-Piece Garage Storage Cabinet Set with Worktop. He was very knowledgable and did a great job. I really trusted his judgement and the end result was great. So thankful to have found him because I couldn't imagine this installation being done by anyone else. I ran into a few issues with company's shipping & due to a damaged locker and the wrong cabinets being sent he helped deal with customer service & got me 25% off the entire order, along with new industrial cabinets. He went above and beyond the call of duty. All of his work is first class, quick and professional. Refreshing experience. Highly recommended.Jun 4, 2017VerifiedSoterios K.'s reply
Thank you Antonella for the great review 😁, That cabinet job was extremely difficult.
Sam is a winner, a man of his word , with skills to match! Thanks Thumbtack!May 23, 2018Verified
This man is completely unprofessional and pretends to know everything while he attempts to do unlicensed work.Jan 22, 2018Soterios K.'s reply
This is a local contractor ; who never disclosed the fact on her request on thumbtack for plumbing services; who informed up front that I wasn't lic. in the City of Newburgh NY...trying to get plumbing work in a 100 year old future apartment complex. I would advise all local plumbing contractors to stand clear of this vulgur/ outspoken internet come on... In my opinion; based on my limited conversation with this contractor/ this is the perfect sinerio / set up for a insurance scam on your Lic. I'm very fortunate to have had enough experience to spot these types of individuals
Despite starting a day later (Mother Nature) Sam T. Karras, showed what a true professional is. Arrived on site and set up his workshop and completed the task at hand. Will definitely hire him again for my next project.Aug 9, 2017Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?1)Plumbing work; the hourly rate is $65 to $85 per hour. View your particular bid. 2)Construction type work / moderate to Heavy is the same price $65 to $85 per hour 3)Handyman Services; $45 to $65 per hour Im in business to make a living... but, I'm willing to negotiate prices. Im a reasonable business man, and homeowner like yourself. It's tuff out here for everyone. Talk to me. I'm sure we can work something out that's reasonable. Thanks
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First, I find out exactly what they would like to accomplished. Second, I do some pricing research based on their budget. Then I have a conference with them to discuss cost realities... I def make suggestions... based on saving money and time... but keeping in mind the overall goals of the clients. Then the business of contracts and or deposits begin. Depending on how complicated the project is ... I do ask to be paid for my research time occasionally... This is just as important as the job itself ... and it takes time to prepare. Thanks
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work? It's required to maintain my Lic. in both fields... NYS Water & Sewer Lic. Master Plumbers Lic. is not required in my County yet... It will be soon enough though.
