We had an excellent experience. BC Cleaning was highly professional, returned all phone calls and emails in a timely manner, and, most important, did excellent work. I have referred them to several friends who are planning to use them. My only suggestion would be that we used them only for the exterior windows and I wish they had quoted us and advised us to do exterior, interior, sills, and screens, as it probably wouldn't have been much more money but would have made a big difference in how clean the windows appear.

Amazing work ethic and outstanding craftsmanship. Nathan and Glenn NEVER stop moving. They did flooring, trim, drywall, refinished our ceiling, painting and exterior work. All were excellent. Truly can not say enough good things. Highly recommend to anyone.

This is a father-daughter team. They work together extremely well and communicate nicely. They repainted the entire interior of my house. All the work took roughly 5-6 days, but because of my work schedule, was accomplished over a span of a couple of weeks. I chose several very vibrant colors and they handled them well. Todd made suggestions about my fireplace and one ceiling that worked brilliantly. He did a couple of extra things (caulked my tub, texturized a section of wall so it would match the surrounding area) without adding to the price. I appreciated that effort and attention. They were thorough and made sure to go back and check for spots they missed or errant smudges. Painting is always a messy proposition, but Todd's daughter mopped my floors twice during the project. Finally, they are extremely reasonably priced. I am glad I hired them.

My wife and I interviewed 4 contractors and after interviewing them, hired MLB Contracting. We are very happy that we did. We hired MLB Contracting to paint the entire interior of our three level townhouse, to replace the dining room floor and to replace the tile floor in one of our bathrooms. After discussing what we needed done, Mikhail promptly provided a written contract for us to sign. During the duration of the project, Mikhail promptly returned all our calls and texts. In addition, Mikhail immediately contacted us when he had questions and provided great suggestions when unexpected situations occurred. I want to mention that my wife and I lived approximately 1 hour from the condo when the work was being done. And at no time were we concerned that we could not check on the quality and progress of the work on a daily basis. In consideration of the distance involved, Mikhail had us do a walk through a few days before the work was completed. The reason was that he wanted us to check the work so that if we had any problems with it, he would be able to resolve them before calling the job done. Mikhail started and completed the job in a timely manner. Mikhail was professional, thorough, polite, hardworking and courteous. We stopped by several times during the project and every time we did, Mikhail and his crew were hard at work. We also want to mention that Mikhail’s crew was equally professional, thorough, polite, hardworking and courteous. As we are very picky people, we greatly appreciated the attention to detail Mikhail and is crew demonstrated throughout the project. The bottom line is that MLB Contracting delivered on everything we asked for. We would, without hesitation, recommend MLB Contracting and without hesitation, we would hire them again. This is quite a compliment considering the fact that as I said earlier, my wife and I are very picky people.

I originally hired Dave to work on a historic home that I bought to fix up. The house contained a lot of plaster walls that were very badly cracked and damaged. I was impressed with his ability to fix the plaster as most contractors wanted to strip the walls to sheathing and drywall. After he was done fixing the plaster I hired him to paint the entire interior of the home (3 floors) he did a fantastic job and came in under budget and before my deadline.

Fantastic Job! I hired Andy to paint my bedroom last summer. He was very professional, came with all of his own supplies, I only had to provide the paint! He finished the job very quickly and did a great job in a room with a lot of trim work! Andy was super clean, and showed up when he said he was going to! I will be calling him again when my next painting project comes up!

John and Amy of J & A Painting and Construction did an outstanding job on a difficult painting project which we hired them for. John was prompt in responding to our request for a quote. He was knowledgable about different paint types needed for a complete repaint of the interior of a very rustic cabin. For example, several areas of the cabin had raw wood and raw masonry. Proper primer and masonry paint was suggested and applied with excellent results, leaving the entire cabin with a consistent, finished appearance. John and Amy took time to make sure details were done right. John "cut in" about 8 ceiling beams, which we wanted to remain raw with great skill and left no bleed or overpaint on the beams. The entire ceiling of the cabin"s second floor was raw wood, with shingle nails penetrating the surface. This required primer and 2-3 coats of paint. Many of the shingle nails caused splinters in the raw wood. John spent hours removing the splinters before priming the ceiling in order to insure a more uniform appearance. Despite the taxing work and extra time involved, John and Amy never complained, and never increased their initial estimated price despite the extra work involved. On many occasions, John stopped what he was doing to help us move a heavy piece of furniture or do an extra project, all without a thought of extra compensation. In short, you can hire J & A Paintiing and Construction with confidence. They quote a reasonable price and work hard, without complaint until the job is done right.

Eric Carlson has been doing work for me for over 10 years. He has always done excellent carpentry and paint work. He has resided my house with cedar shake shingles, done exterior and interior painting, built deck additions and stairs, sheet rock installation, window and door installation, electrical and plumbing work, and all has been excellent. He arrives on time and gets the work done on schedule. He always cleans up after himself. I would recommend him for any job that he feels is within his wheel-house.

I could not be happier with the service that Justin has offered. He was unbelievably quick to respond and has been nothing but professional the entire time. Initially I was hesitant at first to hire because of the previous review, but I am so thankful I hired him because him and his team did an excellent job fixing my roof. They removed our metal roof and the layers underneath it and put on the shingles that we picked out. He was substantially cheaper than anyone else that we could find in the Watertown area to come out and do our job. Not only did he fix our roof while he was out here, but helped us while we were moving out by removing some of our waste that we had, and rebuilding our entire porch ceiling that was rotting for nearly nothing. We were in a rush to get the job so we could move out, and he dropped everything for us. My family could not be more thankful for the job that he's done for our house and it looks tenfold better. I would recommend him over any other roofer that we have dealt with. We have hired two previous roofing companies that blew us off half the time, and one broke our heavy duty composter and didn't even bother saying anything. Do not listen to his first review here. It is nothing further from the truth.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

    • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
    • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
    • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
    • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
