Introduction: I take time to make sure that my clients are happy and that my work is the best it can be. I do not take short cuts; I will meet with my client as many times it takes to make sure their gown is perfect to both their standards and mine. I absolutely love working with brides. I love the process of altering, customizing, or creating the gown of their dreams. It's one of the happiest times in their lives, and I get to share that with them.

Wedding and Bridesmaid Dress Alterations

I've known Sarah for many years and was thrilled that I would be able to have someone I knew and trusted work on the alterations for my wedding dress. What I didn't know at the beginning was just exactly how talented Sarah is at what she does. It was clear from the first five minutes of my first appointment with Sarah that she knew her way around wedding dresses, fabrics, seams, laces, buttons, and everything else! The alterations I needed were minor, but came out perfectly, and Sarah ended up becoming my trusted beauty consultant on everything from the kind of spanx I should wear underneath, to jewelry selections to match my dress, to my shoes. She made me feel calm and I knew I would look exactly how I wanted to for my wedding day. I live in Washington DC and made three trips to the Hudson Valley so that Sarah could work on my dress. I also wore my Mom's veil and wouldn't trust the alterations we needed for the veil to anyone else! Beyond doing an excellent job with the actual work needed on my dress, Sarah is lovely and caring, and just the kind of person you want around you as you prepare for your wedding.(Working with vendors who can get the job done well but who don't care about you personally or create extra stress for the bride and groom is NOT the way to go!). I can't say enough positive things about Sarah.

Sarah made the most beautiful Elsa dress for my daughter last year. My six year old wore it every day for weeks straight and it is still one of her favorite! The quality of her work is outstanding!! In fact, she will be turning my wedding dress into my daughter's first communion dress next year! I highly recommend her!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Can you buy your gown from a bridal shop? Yes. BUT you can also design and create a one-of-a-kind gown that is ONLY yours and experience something very special during that unique process. You can get that using a designer/seamstress like me.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Being a seamstress is a dying art. I love it and am passionate about it. You will see that in how I take pride in my work.
