We needed a kitchen cabinet removed and a new dishwasher installed. His work was fantastic! He came by on the evening and worked quickly. I would recommend him to anyone looking to have a similar job done. I know we will be using him again for other projects!

I needed a medium sized cabinet assembled. Joe got the job and arrived on time and immediately began to work. He encountered a small issue and his problem solving skills went into effect and resolved the issue. I am definitely pleased with this service and highly recommend it to anyone who needs furniture assembled. Will call for all my future needs. Thanks for quality work.

Marty had to install a new microwave for us. It entailed refitting a cabinet, making it half the original size, and installing the microwave there. The project was in good hands. Marty spoke with my husband, came up with a feasibile plan and then he executed perfectly. He cut the existing cabinet in half and also made the door to fit! Marty was very professional, Very respectful, has a careful eye for details and was not done until he was 100% satisfied.

This gentleman is an amiable professional who it was a pleasure to provide an extra set of hands to during the "cabinet" assembly. His professionalism was very apparent in his repair of the drawer slides on my kitchen "hooch". I have another "cabinet" job planned for the future and definitely plan to use his professional services.

My client is opening a retail/office space and needed paint, fixtures, and shelves hung up in her space. Herson delivered excellent service by hanging all of the fixtures, and painting the entire store in one day. He also meant my client's budget and exceeded her expectations.

Tom's team did an outstanding job at painting very high contemporary ceiling rooms. Patched ceiling cracks and smoothed out ceiling issues from previous non-TNS work. He did creative carpentry work to fix problems with a hall corner wall, hole in bath wall and deck board that had rot. Fixed kitchen cabinet drawer that did not work. Great communication and execution. Hard workers, that were very accommodating of my schedule and my dogs. Great experience

Rome was exceptionally reasonable with his pricing compared to other quotes we received, and he started at our soonest convenience. His talented crew were a pleasure to have in our home as they tackled several projects we were working on. We had Rome renovate our kitchen, wallpaper and paint our dining room, paint and renovate cabinets in our billiard room, and paint several other rooms in our home, they replaced several wood planks on our pergola and on the deck and steps that were unsafe and his wood worker went above and beyond with his amazing skills to go the extra mile with several things on the deck that needed changing or that that needed a face lift. They power washed our home and made it look new and replaced several odds and ends that had just been needing a new look. He was always willing to work around our busy schedules and eager to please. He is a very kind, pleasant presence which we appreciated as we were working with him and his crew for several weeks. They were always on time and clear about what they were doing and what they needed in order for us to prepare for different projects. We had our kitchen counters removed and a family member was going to be inheriting them, and he was even kind enough to take his time and his crews time to help transport them to the new owners vehicle which was greatly appreciated and much needed. I would go on and on about how Rome and his crew were a pleasure to work with but i dont want to fail to mention what a wonderful person he actually is and how he truly cares if you are happy with the outcome of things and the progress as well. Rome is a one of a kind find when it comes to anything having to do with your home and he will respect your home and things in it more then i have ever witnessed with any other company. He is a great man of his word and was a great find on this sight!!! We will always call Rome in the furure for anything relating to home improvement. If youre lucky enough to find him youre lucky enough!! Hopefully Rome gets to see this review so he knows how very thankful we are that we found him and were blessed enough to have him make our home everything we wanted and more!! Rome and his professional, caring crew are one of a kind, skilled and professional!!!!

I hired Gamboa painting to paint my kitchen cabinets, walls and ceiling. It wasn't until I had seen Gamboa's work that I was comfortable having my kitchen cabinets spray painted. Finding the right person to do the job is critical in cabinet painting because imperfections show easily and durability is very important. Gamboa's painting did an excellent job patching and preparing the walls and ceiling as well. They were neat, easy to communicate with and there was never any disagreement about the scope of the job or agreed upon price. It was a pleasure dealing with Carlos and his crew and I highly recommend his company.

I needed Glenn to replace my kitchen cabinets. Out of the quotes I received, his was most affordable and the pictures of his previous work looked the best. I really wanted someone who was able to work on it in the evening after I got off work and Glenn was happy accommodate me, working until 11pm for a few days. He took his time to carefully explain what work he would be doing. I even mentioned some door that someone else told me needed to be replaced. Glenn was very honest and explained that he could simply re-hinge the door and that a door replacement was an unnecessary expense. I will definitely keep his contact information handy for any other repair needs I have.

Wow! Susan and her assistant were absolutely amazing. My household goods and furniture arrived this week from Washington DC and they unpacked everything for me. I was extremely ill (going through a severe lupus flare) and they simply proceeded ahead to organize and put away everything I own -- from putting down shelf liner in my cabinets to hanging clothes in my closet to putting my bed together all in a meticulous and coordinated manner. My condo looks like a showroom. If you have a chance to hire Susan you will never ever regret it. In fact, you would regret it if you don't!

Arek installed our IKEA kitchen and a custom pantry. We were very pleased with his work because it was meticulous, well thought out (no surprises), and flawless. He offered several helpful suggestions when we weren't sure how to proceed. Arek was also efficient and he focused entirely on our projects and completed them both in a very timely fashion. He was also careful on the work site and left our place clean when he completed each project. Communicating with Arek was easy as well. In summary, we were very pleased with Arek's cabinet craftsmanship, his eye for detail, and his conscientious work, and it was easy working with him. We highly recommend Arek!

We hired Joe to build a fairly large cabinet for our living room to cover a long radiator. We wanted something clean and elegant and that would fit in with our modern decor. The cabinet also needed to be built based on some technical requirements including the need for doors to open and slats to allow heat to radiate. Joe did a fantastic job. He listened to our needs. Provided some great suggestions and completed the cabinet quickly. The work came out beautifully. And at a very reasonable price. Joe is a master craftsman and a really nice guy too. He is very professional and reliable. We will definitely hire him again to do more work. We highly recommend him.

Kiko was amazing. He assembled 24 cabinets perfectly in a single day. He very graciously accepted several date changes due to construction delays. He arrived early, was extremely pleasant and worked quickly and quietly to get the job done. We cannot recommend him more highly. A job that would have taken my husband and I two weeks of after work evenings (&too many arguments!) to complete was done in a day. Phenomenal. Worth EVERY penny. Hire him!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How much does it cost to have kitchen cabinets installed?

In any kitchen, the cabinets are the main focus, so you want to make sure new or replacement cabinets are installed correctly. A professional carpenter can properly, securely mount new cabinets to the wall; the national average cost for this service is $7,725, although the cost varies widely depending on the type of cabinets, their material and their size, and the accessories you add. A typical fee is $70 per linear foot to remove existing cabinets and assemble and install new ones; the cost is less if you do the demolition and removal yourself. Stock cabinets are the least expensive to have installed, ranging from $75 to $400 each; semi-custom cabinets range from $150 to $900 each; and custom cabinets cost from $500 to $1,400 each. Wood cabinets are more expensive than those made from plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and finished with a laminate. Wood cabinets range in cost from $80 to $160 per linear foot. Laminate-finished cabinets cost $35 to $75 per linear foot, on average.
