Grace was awesome with my dogs and their haircuts look great! My boy can be really nervous and squirmy with groomers and she comforted him when he was distressed. I really appreciate that she made grooming a positive experience for them.

Our groomer was kind, caring and gentle with our 10 year old very matted cat. She did an excellent job in a challenging situation. Our cat was fine after the grooming, looks great and seems to be more comfortable. It was a huge relief all around.

We had to leave town while our 1 year old cat was sick. Thankfully we found Sarah and she was able to accommodate us last minute. She came early in the morning to do a meet and great before we left. Sarah was very knowledgable about administering medicine and I felt instantly comfortable leaving our cat with her. She came twice a day, administered meds, fed and played with our cat - always sending us a text and picture update. Sarah was prompt to text back and answer any questions we had. We will definitely call Sarah next time we head out of town!

Since moving to Long Beach I have interviewed several groomers and not happy with either their lack of professionalism or knowledge to groom the breed or the conditions where there were numerous dogs locked in cages. Then I was recommended to JP’s Squeaky Clean from a neighbor. The owner, Janice came to my home and sat with me and then played with Lexi. After seeing how she bonded with Lexi and how comfortable Lexi was, Janice proceeded with the grooming process. Janice did a wonderful job, is very careful, and takes her time to pay attention to every grooming detail. She also left my home clean and dog-hair free. It was a great experience for both Lexi and I. Thank you Janice!

Randi was punctual (early in fact) and has a clean, professional mobile salon. We've had our dog groomed at other places but Feline Designs did the best job of all.

We couldn't be happier with Barks N Bubbles! We have five dogs - four small older dogs who needed full grooming and one big pup who needed a nail trim. Cristina was communicative during the scheduling process and and very professional. She listened carefully to the medical issues of each dog, past issues with other groomers and our concerns. It had been a bit since our dogs last grooming and Cristina took the time and care to make them look great. And I mean GREAT. The haircuts are PERFECT. The dogs were happy and bouncing around after their grooming - not the least bit traumatized as they had been after past groomings. We are grateful to have found Barks N Bubbles and plan to make them our regular groomers from here on out!

Daisy Duke is reliable, conscientious, and her love and care for our cat has made traveling much less stressful. We don’t have to worry about our cat because we trust Daisy not only to care for our cat but to be in our house. We would recommend her pet sitting services to anyone without hesitation.

Michelle was amazing! My cat was so mean to her but she didn't give up, he decided to be nice to her after a while and she cut his nails. I couldnt help but give her more than what she was asking for. I'm 110% satisfied with how she handled my itty-bitty.

My cat's are usually difficult when it comes to grooming. With the exception of one of my cats this time was no different. What I loved about Kodi's Pet Grooming and Training is that they did all that they can to make the experience good for my cats and the pricing is fair.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do cats have to get groomed?

It’s not crazy to have your cat groomed. Grooming will keep your cat’s fur soft and silky as well as give you early warning about any health concerns. Regular grooming can also help reduce the volume of hair your cat may be shedding and keep your longhair kitty cool if you live in a warm climate. Professionals competently groom your cat and are trained to manage them if they resist being groomed, while you may get scratched doing the same task. The national average price for cat grooming is $50-$70. Pet grooming prices may vary based on the task. For example, a bath and brush for shorthair cats may be $15, $20 for medium-hair cats, and $25 for a longhair. Cat groomers can also keep your cat’s ears cleaned, trim their nails, and provide haircuts if needed. Average prices for haircuts can vary from $30 to $95 or more, depending on whether the cat is shy or aggressive and whether their coat is in good condition, matted, or otherwise difficult to groom.

Where can you get your cat groomed?

Cat grooming keeps your cat’s fur tangle-free and clean. Most businesses that offer dog grooming or general pet grooming also offer cat grooming; some businesses even specialize solely in cat grooming. Look for a professional who has training grooming cats or belongs to a professional association such as the National Cat Groomers Institute, because cat grooming techniques can be different than for dogs. Cat grooming can encompass a wide range of services. In addition to haircutting, hair detangling and hairstyling, cat groomers can trim cat nails, clean out your cat’s ears, give flea baths, demat, trim facial fur, bathe and even blow-dry your cat. Health safety and etiquette requires your cat to be in good health and have all their vaccinations before using grooming services.

How much should cat grooming cost?

Keeping your cat groomed is an important part of maintaining their good health. The national average cost for cat grooming ranges between $50 and $70, with prices varying based on where you live and the services you request. Your cat’s temperament can also affect grooming prices. Scratching and hissing during a groomer visit can raise rates an average of $5-$10, or more, as hazard pay. Larger cats and long-haired cats that take longer to groom will also usually cost more. Here are some examples of cat grooming average costs:

  • Shave down or lion cut: $35-$60. These cuts preserve the hair around the face and tip of the tail but shave down the entire body. The lion cut is often recommended for extremely matted hair is exceedingly matted, for extreme heat, or for cats who are suffering from hairballs.
  • Ear cleaning and nail trim: $30.
  • Nail trim: $10-$15.
  • Bath and nail trim: $45.
  • Bath and sanitary trim: $55. A sanitary trim clips the hair on a cat’s behind to prevent fecal matting in longhair cats or cats that have mobility issues.
  • Bath, blow-dry, brush out, nail trim and ear cleaning: $40.
  • Full haircut, bath, and nail trim: $45-$95, depending on matting.
