John has been teaching my kids piano for years and he’s great! He is an awesome teacher, very patient and kind yet firm when it’s needed. The kids have developed their musical talent, thanks to him. I definitely recommend him.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I’ve worked with people of all ages and from all walks of life. I enjoy introducing very young children to the language of music, nerding out about music theory with an enthusiastic teenager, helping an adult ease back into music after having quit as a child, or even helping an adult who has never played an instrument in their life.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I’ve been studying Partimento and historical improvisation in hopes of integrating elements of Partimento into my own teaching style. The conservatories of old had a strong focus on improvisation in contrast to our current classical curriculum which has a stronger focus on technique.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

There is a correlation between the amount of time a student spends practicing and the quality of their instrument. Consider investing in an instrument that you or your child will love and not want to walk away from. Be prepared to set aside a fixed amount of time to practice every day. Work it into your schedule. Young children will always see more progress when practicing with a parent.
