My daughter bought a home on land contract. She paid religiously for two years but noticed the neighborhood was really declining and the property almost lost half of its value since the inception of the contract, (She paid 72,500 for the house in Jan 2013 and its now valued at 44,500). Knowing she would never be able to get a conventional loan since the value of the home was far less than what she owed, I reached out on AVVO for some quick advice ( she was just going to finish the land contract out and not seek additional financing) . I heard from several attorneys, most of which said she would be sued hugely. They said the home would be sold as a sheriff sale and what monies were owed after that on the remainder of the contract, she would be responsible for and consequently, sued for!!! I was panicked, as she is 23 years old and put all of her savings down on the home. Mr Ott reached out to me, citing an old Land Contract Law which could apply. I met with him that week. He was knowledgable , throrough and kept my emotions in tact saying this sectionaed law could apply. He was so eloquent when trying to negotiate the terms on which to opt out. What I have learned from this is......................dont ever sign a contract without an attorney reviewing it! Mr. Ott said that we should have put a stipulation in the land contract that she would refinance only if the market value of the home was worth the owed price. Mr. Ott negotiated a cancellation of land contract professionally and with minimal monies needed by my daughter. He was upfront about legal costs and billed accordingly and more than fairly. If you need an attorney, hire him!!!!
Barbara's work on my case was extremely thorough and she kept me informed every step of the way; taking the time to make sure all of my questions and concerns were answered. I highly recommend Barbara for your legal needs. She goes above and beyond for her clients!
Professional, personable, precise, and on top of things when it comes to legal representation. Michael is someone I would let represent me in any legal manor if needed, but he recently helped me dissolve a domestic issue and knocked it out of the park! He has a broad knowledge of the legal system and knows how to really use it in the courts. Excellent, young lawyer! 5/5 stars. Highly recommend.
Jack Malkin is an outstanding attorney. He is competent, caring and kind. He clearly understands criminal law and is a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him as both an outstanding individual and an outstanding attorney.

In law school, I had a concentration in business law. I finished first in my class in business law/taxation. I started at a firm, primarily doing business law for one client who owned a great deal of property. It primarily included contracts (such as leases, mortgages, and sales agreements) review, drafting and litigation. I quit the firm after three years, when my job morphed into something I did not go to law school for--the firm had me begin to do its collections, which there were very few. I did not go to law school nor take that job to collect debts. After some disagreements, I quit. After I traveled a bit, I volunteered at hospice and became very familiar and comfortable with estate planning (beyond the simple services) and legal aide. Some time later, a former client hired me directly. I now primarily work as in-house counsel and have done so for the past three years. I then worked full-time, so serious litigation is difficult, but I try to do affordable (as I realized once, I could not afford myself at my old firm based on my billable hours) work or often free with my side LLC. It's free if it's extremely simple. As I have extra time and have come to learn areas of the law, from suing banks on my own for hundreds of millions of dollars to fighting the EPA in a gigantic wetlands suit and defending minor traffic violations for friends of my employer, I have grown well beyond simply doing contracts. I took a lot of pride, and it made all the difference in the past when I worked on the side. I fought for a client who could not afford a retainer, whose sister had forced his mother to write him out of her will despite his being completely disabled. We were very lucky to settle for a decent amount. Since then, I have gained his appreciation as no one would take the case after he said he could not afford a retainer. I am very open to discussing, and at least hoping I can provide some sort of assistance, as well as taking unconventional clients. There is an issue that I am not extremely available for litigation (complex); it depends, perhaps one or two clients, but I do full-time work as it is. I'd like to think that if I cannot partially assist with practical advice before "working", I can find or help find an attorney who would be interested in assisting clients.
