The first piano lesson/assessment was free! She was very flexible with the scheduling of the lesson. My son was very comfortable with her teaching style and is looking forward to working with her. Her immediate feedback after the first lesson was very positive and appreciated.Sep 25, 2014Verified

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I tailor lessons to the parent's and student's needs as well as goals in music. I always do my best to make lessons fun and stimulating to motivate the student. After communicating through email and or phone, I offer a free consultation lesson along with a 25% discount for the first month. I have a standard piano policy that sums up everything about the lessons and what to expect from me, the student and parent(s).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have received a B.A. in music from the University of Akron. My main focus was vocal performance but I also studied piano privately with Dr. Myumi Kikuchi at The University of Akron to keep growing in my musical abilities. Since I am pursuing a career in performing, I am currently in The Akron Choral Symphony as well as in productions at Weathervane Theater. I have also earned my Kindermusik Teacher license and teach in Hudson and Fairlawn, OH. For fun, I am an independent Celtic Harpist and Singer.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?My passion has always been performing and singing. My parents told me that they knew they had a musician on their hands when I gave performances of songs from "Sesame Street" while taking baths as a toddler. Teaching is also an ability that comes effortless to me, especially when it comes to teaching children. I have always been fond of children and I started babysitting at a young age because of this. While babysitting, I would sing and play piano as an uplifting activity and also to help lull younger children into taking their afternoon naps. This transitioned into the making of my studio, "Lessons By Siobhan". I am discovering new passions in learning methods from Kindermusik and Montessori. Translating these methods with teaching music produces amazing results! I love what I do and I look forward to the future of my studio and students!
