FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Even as a child I was interested in how things were constructed and how different components worked together. I remember getting into trouble for dismantling things around the house. A few years after school I decided to do what came naturally to me; building things. I started out landscaping, then painting, carpentry, and roofing, then electrical and plumbing. Though I will always be learning, time and experience is the best teacher.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I have a client who is an older widow. She sold a larger home recently because she could not manage it anymore. I helped her get the house ready for market. The condominium she bought was a solid home, but it needed some updating, particularly the kitchen and bathrooms. She really wanted a nice kitchen to make her from scratch strudel and other goodies. I really went the extra mile for her due to her situation. The project was added on to and some changes were made along the way. We were both a bit worried about the Christmas deadline. I had promised her that she could have her family there for Christmas dinner. The guys and I pushed really hard and worked a lot of long days to get it done on schedule, even with the additional work. We pulled out completed on December 22. She was elated and we were very happy too. It was great.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would advise them to make sure that they found someone that would provide everything in writing and provide references if requested. The customer could then pick up the phone and actually talk to past clients if they desired.
