This company has major professional problems. I contacted them to get some work, renovation and additions completed. They came out and looked at what I was wanting to get done. I informed them that all three job do not have to be done at once and they can be done in stages. They told me they work on small projects up to big projects all the time.
This was good news. I waited to hear back from them. But I never heard back from them. They told me they would get back to me by “x” date for the quote. They never did. I had to follow up extensively just to get a word back. I tried calling, messaging in the app, text message and email. I contacted thumbtack about this and no sooner had I did this they contacted me. They then told me they couldn’t do the job because It was too big. then because they don’t have any people. So I asked, ‘then why did you even come out?’. We discussed doing the smaller parts or doing the whole thing to be flexible. And I was told they could do that. To think they would waste your time, and pull you from work or other obligations only to not take a job they cannot do, whether it have been one of the smaller jobs or the big job.
The company told me that if I cannot find someone to get it done to get back to them and they would do it. Now what sense does that make. I asked why did you tell me you could do it and you would get back if you cannot. Hamza, was the guy that came out and told me they could do it and would get back to me. Initially, they were so proactive in communicating with me and following up for the visit, until they came over and met me. … I thought we got along well. We talked and laughed, but obviously that was fake.
In response to my follow up he told me it was too big and I asked what about the smaller jobs? He acted surprised and I reminded him about how it could be done in smaller parts and not as one. He said he didn’t know that and I reminded him we discussed that and that piece of info is in the job request. He then told me that he would talk to the manager/owner, Mohumad. I believe that was his name. He, then told me he can’t do the job. Then told me he doesn’t have any people. And then he told me, he was getting more people and had to train them. It seemed to be excuses after excuses. He then told me he would look at my jobs and would get back to me and never did.
I contacted thumbtack again and followed up with the initial reporting of the issue. They told me they were glad I kept them aware of the process because they don’t want customers being treated like this by their pros. They have had complaints like this before and appreciate being informed about the misdeeds like this. Thumbtacks reason being, was because many people don’t know this info, and then hires someone and wishes they knew about this experience. So I’m sharing my experience. Thumbtack is engage in an investigation of company to determine failed practices of this company and if other existential factors were at play, in their performance/ non-compliance.
