My son was hesitant to have a tutor but after meeting Guljeet he is comfortable enough to work with him again. I am using Guljeet to assist my son who is a HS Junior in prepping for the ACT/SAT's. I am only giving a four star because today was the first meeting. I strongly feel using a tutor and selecting Guljeet was the right choice. I am excited to have Guljeet continue to tutor my son. Stay tuned.. I feel a rating increase in the near future.
Charlotte took concepts from my statistics course that I was not able to comprehend, practice or master on my own, even with hours upon hours of study on my own. With a word, a drawing or an example, whole units of material would suddenly come clear to me. Work with Charlotte kept me from repeating incorrect thought processes on my own that would have made correct interpretation of data even harder to demonstrate on tests and homework. There were several times throughout the semester where she'd say the thing that helped me "get" it. I could tell it was genuinely satisfying for her as the teacher when that happened. Meanwhile, I was doing "happy dances". With her help, I am quite confident I will be able to complete a PhD program as a bona-fide quantitative-minded social scientist.
Where to begin....utilizing a tutor wasn't on our minds for the standardized tests for college. Fortunately my daughter didnt fall into a category that we felt it would be necessary. However, when she took her first pass at the SAT her junior year in high school, she found timing her responses on this test properly and recalling her math from years prior were holding her back from her potential. From here, my mind opened to the option of considering a tutor. I let my daughter help make the decision as well, as it would be an investment. I have heard countless stories of putting good money after bad, and I didn't want to find myself and my daughters efforts on the short end of that stick.... Then comes Professor Z & Westside Tutoring Services........ Through a little online research, my gut and a personal friend's positive experience (after a few weeks of her high schooler working with Prof Z) we asked him to consider tutoring our daughter. I found him as delightful in person as in his referrals online... Once in awhile in life, you find that person who has a true passion for what they do....& makes sure not only THEY succeed but those people around them do....this is Prof Z. He leaves little to chance. He has created a pretty fool proof way of approaching tutoring that will allow your students true potential to come through in results. It is efficient, focused, and worth every dime. His family is a beacon of kindness and support. I would (and have) told anyone considering tutoring to be extremely careful. Don't waste money on questionable tutors....it's not something to gamble with. After Prof Z's tutoring for 3-4 months and my daughter's hard work, she achieved her personal goal of a 1560 on her SAT. She even left this second go around of the test happy and cautiously confident. Who does that at these painful 3 hour sittings?! Thank you Prof Z....proving to my college bound daughter that hard work pays off. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us, and to all the lucky community of students who cross your path......
Dan was a very effective tutor for my son in the last years of high school. Dan also had a personality that was a great fit, which made a big difference. We used Dan for test prep as well as ACT tutoring and saw our son’s score go up significantly. Our experience with Dan was fantastic and I’d highly recommend him to anyone!
I did 2 sessions with Matt while I was home in preparation for my GMAT, which is in 3 weeks. We focused on the quantitative section, which was the weak spot on my first test. Matts familiarity with the GMAT (both the Verbal and Math section) was evident in the first few minutes of sitting down with him. Probably even more important, given my time constraint, was Matts ability to quickly identify my specific problem areas (integer / geometric properties & time management on data sufficiency problems) and come up with a game plan to improve them. Matts teaching style helped solidify key concepts by having me walk him through my thinking on problems and correcting me only when I veered off path. This approach worked for me. After the second session, I took a practice test and my math score improved substantially. I would recommend Matt to anyone whos serious about boosting their GMAT score.
My daughter has had multiple lessons with Mrs. Meena Sheth and all have gone very well. Mrs. Sheth has helped her better understand her Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II Trigonometry by giving her examples which my daughter said made the information make sense. She has done more than just going over class and test material. She has done a great job encouraging my daughter and giving her the confidence she needed to take her exams.
Molly does a great job. She is knowledgeable and well prepared. My daughter is learning a lot from her.
Olivia was my tutor to help with my analytical writing portion of my GRE. We would go over sample prompts for both the argument task and the issue task. After I wrote my essays Olivia would read over them, leave comments, fix grammar, and write a paragraph at the end with my final score and reasoning for why I recieved that score. This was really helpful for me because I found it very hard to grade my own essays based on the GRE books and sample responses for each score one can receive. Olivia did all of that for me, and then that also made it easier for me to go back to my books and refer to what a score 4 is compared to a score 5 based on what Olivia pointed out to me and what the books reiterated. Her constructive criticism and talented writing skills really helped me improve my writing skills, scores, and confidence for test day.
My instructor at College Review was so flexible and knowledgeable. I didn't want to go with an independent teacher because I had a bunch of other school commitments and didn't have the time to dedicate a time slot to a person every week. Any time something came up the next week, my instructor never made an issue with it. She provided a ton of times where I could meet with her which made me feel much more relaxed. I also didn't know you could be ACT certified. So I got a teacher that was trained by the people who make the exam, not just some person who scored well. That made me feel even better about my decision.
Natalie is an excellent tutor!! She is fun and engaging, always comes prepared, and definitely knows the ACT inside and out. After tutoring just a few times, my ACT score increased by four points. By incorporating both strategy and content into our tutoring sessions, and by providing me with plenty of prep material, I was able to exceed my goal score. I would definitely reccomend Natalie to anyone in search of a tutor.
My daughter has always struggled in math and science. She has been in school based tutoring programs, and basic math and science classes, her teaches have worked with her, but nothing seemed to help. Her math and science grade's ranged between D's and F's. She started working with Lindi second semester of her sophomore year her fist grading period report she had a C+ in both classes, the teachers started asking her what was going on, she said Ms. Lindi. Lindi would follow what the teacher was teaching in class and put it in terms that was easy to understand, and gave great memory tips. In her junior year she averaged B's and A-, by the end of the school year for the first time she made the merit roll with a B+ in both classes and A- on both final exams. She took her ACT test this past summer and some of her best scores where in math and science. She is now in her senior year and she is now in college prep math and science and doing well, and she continues to work with this wonderful lady. I can not thank Lindi enough, her prices are very affordable, and she will do her best to work with any schedule.
