- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charged the going rate of $15 hr for clients that live near my previous residence in Ohio. One of my regular clients I cleaned for weekly lived 25 miles from me, so I had to charge $20 per hr to compensate for my gas consumption. I spent 8 hrs cleaning their home, and all of their floors were scrubbed by hand. They had 4 dogs, and 5 cats, so the pet hair cleanup was intense, which is why it took longer to thoroughly clean their home. After a year, she lost her job, so she had to discontinue my employment as their housekeeper.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I ask them which area of the house they want me start cleaning as, some clients prefer to stay on the opposite floor of where I am cleaning,so I am out of their way as they tend to what tasks they are taking care of. Some my clients in the past had full time jobs, so they were rarely home when I cleaned for them. I would just lock the door on the way out.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am constantly learning new tips/ideas about cleaning that make my job easier for me. If I I am not reading something about cleaning tips on the internet, I am watching a tv show with Martha Stewart. I have often gone to the library to the library,and read books about cleaning,as they sometimes offer advice about general cleaning tasks, as well as removing stains advice for removing stains from carpeting and laundry as well. That can be as easy as spraying a mixture of hydrogen peroxide & Dawn dish soap to remove carpet stains, and watching them disappear.
