We booked NEO Digital Media for our Wedding on November 28th, 2015 for video and DJ. From the very beginning, Drew and Dan were very attentive and flexible with anything and everything we wanted. They offered suggestions and really ran the show. We loved that! We knew we were in good hands and they definitely took away a lot of stress. Dan the DJ was out dancing on the floor, and really had a blast the entire time. We received many compliments regarding him, and we gave quite a few referrals! The videographers were ALWAYS around (party bus, hotel, etc.) and it was amazing! We can't wait to see the video because we know that NOTHING was missed. Thanks so much, NEO Digital Media!

I have worked with Jimmy Smith on a number of projects - both professionally during his time at Delaware and personally. He has always been very efficient with getting the projects on time and they have always been of the highest quality. It is because of Jimmy's work at Delaware that I asked him to be in charge of video for my wedding and to say he did a great job would be a tremendous understatement. My wife and I could not have asked for a better product and it is a memory of our day that we will always have. If there is anyone to recommend for video production, Jimmy is at the absolute top of my list!!

Image Voice Production made my wedding a moment locked in time. This company was not only professional and courteous, but also personally gratifying. My wife and I still relish over the pictures and videos that Image Voice produced. Five stars could not equate the value of their service, but if that's outstanding, that's Image Voice Productions...

Adam was absolutely fantastic!! He made our wedding highlight video exactly how we had envisioned it! (Which was pretty amazing since our explanation of what we wanted was a little vague). But we put our trust in him, and he certainly delivered! He captured all of the special details, the most important parts of every speech, and the best candid moments! His talent and skills are obvious in his work. Adam also provided us with all of the raw footage from the entire day which was great to relive all the laughs and love from everybody. My husband and I literally decided at the last minute (just a few months before our wedding) to hire a videographer, and we are so happy we did. Our favorite gift from our wedding is our videos! We even shared the highlight video with our wedding party because we loved it so much, and everybody was highly impressed! :) Adam was the best to work with too. Planning a wedding is stressful, but he was so laid back& professional...it really put us at ease. He was so efficient when communicating with us and getting our videos sent over ASAP. A great guy all around. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend Adam's video services to everybody! Ang & Rob 6.11.16

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Matthew, and this company! I used Matthew for the videography for my wedding last September. Not only did he show up early, stay late, was professional and kind to all of our guests, everything you would want in a videographer, but the product he gave us was exactly what we were wanting! He captured all of the important moments beautifully, and even the additional shots that I would have never thought of. My husband and I are beyond grateful that we decided to have Matthew as our videographer, and are able to watch our special day again and again! I would highly recommend him and his team! Since the wedding we have also taken family portraits with him, which turned out amazing! You will not be disappointed if you decided to hire this company!

I had at least six mini cassette tapes of my daughter's 2007 wedding video converted, edited, and burned to disc by Mark. On my first visit we looked over the some of the video together so he could get an idea of what I was looking to do. He was very accommodating as to date, time, and project completion. Explained and demonstrated some of the process making me understand it is much more than just copying video. Had me come over to view and approve project before final burn. The result? A totally awesome DVD will be given to my daughter and son in law for their 10th anniversary in January 2017! Mark is a very personable professional. It was a pleasure to work with him. Highly recommended!

Jen and Christopher are THE BEST videographers out there! With them, I felt more like family than clients. They bring you into their home, show you the different options you have, and may even feed you! When they pick up their cameras, you can see the pure love they have for filming. But even more than that, you can see that they actually care about the wedding day, know how special it is, and want to make it the best video they've shot to date. During our pre-wedding pictures, Jen was willing to climb on rocks, kneel, and use the video camera to her advantage just to get the best footage possible to document our big day. During our ceremony, the footage is amazing. They made sure to capture every moment. Starting with walking the family in, through the bridesmaids walking up, the vows, the kiss, and walking back down the aisle. The footage in this section is everything that I ever could've dreamed of. During the reception, they made sure to capture all of my guests, as well as my husband and I, dancing our booty's off! During the whole day (but especially during the reception), they caught the amazing moments, as well as the funny ones! I happened to fall during the reception (not hard- I was fine!). Christopher made sure that my tiny slip made the blooper reel along with other hilarious moments during the day! They also conducted interviews with family and friends that I requested and Jen did a fantastic job at getting each interview. She made my family and friends feel like her family and friends. More than one person interviewed said the "interview" was more like talking to a really good friend. Overall, our wedding video is better than I could've ever imagined thanks to Jen and Christopher. They are now truly part of our family forever.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
