*PLEASE* read this review before booking this contractor scam artist (he's scammed others under different business names like "C.N. Chambers Roofing and Remodeling", "Roofing Repair Cincinnati", etc. I'm positive that these other reviews on Thumbtack are friends and/or family trying to help boost ratings. Our story: we're a normal couple who reached out to Charles Chambers (he goes by Chuck but has recently started to go by Charlie because of his prior negative reviews) to remodel our kitchen and two bathrooms. Chuck made it seem like he's a nice, friendly guy who is willing to do good work at rock bottom prices. He does this in order to get you to sign a terribly vague contract. He then makes you pay a lot up front (in our case it was two thirds after demolition). But we trusted him, foolishly, and gave it to him because he wouldn't sign the contract unless you agreed to his payment terms. But again, he is very friendly initially and makes it seem like he would never scam you and tells you how much you're going to love the finished product. Then, once he's got you under contract and your money, he drags his feet on progress after you've paid. He won't tell you where your expensive kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanity, glass paneling, etc. are located (or even the brand, color, finish etc) and won't drop them off or show you proof he's bought them. Then, two months after you sign a contract and pay him almost $20,000, he starts to change his attitude completely and won't finish the job or drop off materials. His friendly, nice guy attitude turns to serious temper when you *politely* question why the progress is slow, why he's missing multiple deadlines, and ask where your expensive materials are located (in our case he never told us where our materials are located, or even what he bought, and we still don't have any of the materials to finish our remodel). He repeatedly lies to you about when he will finish work and makes up nonsensical excuses. He will also ask for thousands of dollars extra to expedite the work because he "found issues" during his demo that are outside the scope. Then, one day, he literally will walk out of your house and refuse to come back because you want proof of materials or that you want them delivered to your home. Working with Chuck has been an absolute nightmare. He has dumped thousands of pounds of trash all over our house and yard, left massive holes in our walls and floors, and destroyed our personal property not even included in the scope of work. So, we have no kitchen cabinets, no vanity for our bathrooms, no tiled floor (or even a floor for that matter), both of our bathrooms and kitchen are 100% completely demo'd and unusable (and so we still can't live in our house), and he over $20,000 of our money and won't return to finish because we questioned where our materials were located. He destroyed our house and took our money. It sounds crazy and you're wondering how is all of this possible but it's called getting contractor scammed 101 and this is Chuck's game. He's played this game before and knows the right things to say and the loopholes. He uses employees (actually just family members) that take drugs on site (we have evidence of serious drug abuse). On one occasion, we got very concerned when one of the drugged employees started yelling and falling over uncontrollably (sounds crazy but it's true). Finally, the work Chuck does is extremely low quality. Since Chuck left, we've hired an expert to evaluate the damage and it's going to cost us THOUSANDS just to repair the house. That's over and above what we'll need to pay another contractor to finish the job and buy new materials. See our photos as evidence. I can't believe Thumbtack allows this scam business to even be on the website. We're pursuing criminal and civil charges against him. Please do yourself a favor and do what we did: just google "Chuck Chambers" and include one of his former business names in the google search and you'll see the same information about his past life and businesses. For even more information, you might want to pay for a background check as we did. Unfortunately for us, we just found out too late.Apr 13, 2019VerifiedRestoration Home LLC's reply
Restoration home llc. Holds it’s “paying customers” in the highest regard. It’s very disappointing when a particular client can falsely pledge reviews on such baseless grounds. When entering a contract neither clients Nor Contractors can change the details of a certain Contract without an addendum being made by both parties. Unfortunately this customer would not accept those terms turning to thumbtack for weak retaliation. Ultimately we will continue to put our Customer service first providing Excellent craftmanship in the Tri-State area. It’s very obvious the photos in this false review are not completed and we Certainly do not leave projects unfinished. This Review is unjust and Reckless similar to my experience with this client!

Hi Julie! As you have experienced throughout your project, we provide quality work and always keep a level of good communication with our customers. Thank you.
Best home contracting team out there!!! 10 out of 10 rating. My wife and I are beyond impressed and greatful for the service and support Charlie and his team provided. Will ONLY call Charlie to do our future projects. He turned our 1980s home into a modern luxury home. Big thanks to Charlie, Chris and Jose for all the hard work!!!! 1) Responsiveness - it started with a lightning quick turn around on the quote. Followed by a fair and realistic expection of the time line and finished with the same level of prompt responsiveness to the last day on a 3 1/2 month project. 2) Professionalism - Charlie is a consummate professional and most importantly expects his team to hold the same standards. Can't explain how important this was in an industry where the service and support, just as well as professionalism can be hit or miss. We loved his standards from a clean work space before they start to, clean work space after they finish. 3) Value - for the quality of work we received for the service, there is tremendous value. Charlie is on site with his team almost daily and his level of detail and thoroughness are beyond worth the money paid for the service provided. We really could not be more pleased with the result, we have a home we only dreamed of. 4) Flexibility - myself and my wife have a full time job and I travel a bit, throughout the construction project, Charlie was flexible and realistic with us on expectations and timelines 5) Honesty - Very important to us, throughout the whole process Charlie was honest from the start to the finish. Well articulated, but not sugar coated. We felt like he was looking out for our best interest at all times, once again, rare in this industry. We also felt comfortable enough with him and his team to leave the house all to them to finish projects. We would highly recommend Charlie and his team for any home remodeling project. Exceeded expectations across the board!!!!Apr 29, 2019VerifiedRestoration Home LLC's reply
