I have so many good things to say about StrongFit. StrongFit is not only a gym but has become a second family to me. The people there are really warm, friendly and welcoming and the same goes for the trainers. There is a vibe of belonging, encouragement, and strength that permeates the gym. I love the atmosphere and personal attention I receive! I have been training with Joe, the owner, for over 6 months now at the gym and can’t say enough about my positive experience training with him. He has always pushed me to work harder, pin point my weaknesses and create a program that fits me as an individual. He is very experienced, personable, professional and knowledgeable in what he does. He explains the science behind the exercises he chooses for you. What sets him apart is that he truly cares and listens to you. He pours his heart and soul into coaching and his business as a whole. He cares about each person he works with and treats them like he would his only family. I can go on and ...

As a former D1 athlete with ample training experience I was reluctant to seek out a personal trainer. While at first, only interested in knowing my body fat percentage, I decided to meet with Kyle to discuss my goals and what I was hoping to accomplish. I was bored with my routine and results. Kyle quickly assessed my capabilities and challenged my previous methods. My goal was to transform body composition while revitalizing my routine. We agreed to a four week trial. Kyle customized a four-week program to include Weights, Cardio, and Nutrition. He also provided useful apps and information regarding nutrition and the management of calories. All of this was available to me in real-time while working out. I followed the program exactly and achieved outstanding results!!! We agreed to another four week cycle. If I disliked a particular lift or needed a change Kyle was able to quickly provide alternatives solutions and modify the program instantly to reach the same desired goals. After I got to know Kyle a bit this process would gradually evolve to the ongoing seamless, interactive program. The results were immediate! I feel great; have more energy; am stronger; all while creating better symmetry and balance. Overall, Kyle was able to provide a tailored, flexible, and interactive coaching experience that greatly helped me to achieve my goals. In the 8 weeks I dropped my body fat percentage from the low 20s to 10%!!!

Eric is exceptional at what he does! I was trying to get fit for my wedding in a very short amount of time, and he jumped through hoops to fit me into his schedule and get me in shape. He offered nutritional coaching on top of some amazing workouts, and the results were fantastic! Truly one of the best personal trainers in Dayton!

I went to a personal trainer at a large gym several years ago and had a horrible experience. Since then I've really struggled with an exercise routine. I've done videos, bought an elliptical and did an hour a day on it, ran, etc and saw little to no results. I had given up when a friend recommended Jill. I was skeptical but decided to try it out anyway. I'm so glad I did! I'm in the best shape of my life and I'm only getting better! On top of being stronger than I've ever been, I have so much more energy and I'm not dreading bathing suit season! I'm getting actual PERSONAL training and though she's very tough she never pushes me too hard. I leave the gym tired and sore but looking forward to the next time I get to go. I would go every day if I could! Oh, and she's always on time and very understanding when you need to change your schedule (or accidentally sleep in- yikes!). Not only has Jill changed my life with fitness but she's also been a really great friend. I 100% recommend her to anyone who's looking for a trainer or wants to take their health to the next level!

I would be described as a mid-career changer if I had to categorize myself. I’ve worked in logistics for 20+ years and I sought Barbara’s guidance when I had interest in exploring new career paths. It wasn’t evident to me how my experience translated to other occupations or industries and I wasn’t confident that I would be able to “tell my story” on my resume and LinkedIn profile in such a way that my accomplishments in my current field would be highlighted but not in such a way that I would be pigeon holed into only my current industry. Barbara took the time to understand the essence of what I do and helped me identify themes and characteristics in my work experience that are transferable to a variety of fields. She also helped me open my mind to see that some of the other professionals that I’ve intersected with that work outside my company (such as vendors and suppliers) were very valuable connections that could help be my vehicle to my next opportunity. She provided a holistic approach to helping me market myself. This didn’t come naturally to me so I was happy to have found Barbara to help coach me along. It’s evident that Barbara is in her element helping people find their way in the world of work. I highly recommend her!

I have been training with Katie for 2 years now and she has helped me achieve goals I never thought imaginable. She pushed me to lose 8% body fat and improve my boxing technique, which brought me to the USIBA Collegiate National Boxing Championship last year. The best thing about Katie's training style is her burning passion for what she does, she is different from any other trainer because she lives and breathes this sport. Her energy and passion is contagious it drives you to train smarter and harder, pushing you beyond your limits to exceed your goals.

I have been training at this location with Stephanie over the last couple of months. Stephanie is very knowledgeable and puts together a different work out each session. She is personable and is dedicated to your work out each time. She takes the time to explain the circuit if needed and holds you accountable for finishing the work out. I would recommend Stephanie to anyone of any fitness level. She is not only a great trainer, but a fantastic coach along the way. For the gym-ALWAYS a clean and a comfortable atmosphere! Way to go Assault Fitness and thank you for making something difficult fun!

I moved here from California about a year ago and have tried many trainers and I personally like TJ's style the best. He is similar to the trainer I had in California. TJ is a real personable guy. He listens and is attentive. He has a holistic approach which I like. I like the time-based workouts and the workouts are planned. He takes time and care with each client to make sure we are using proper form. I highly recommend him.

Rebecca's coaching was just what the doctor ordered at this point in my life and career. She was able to help me realize things about myself that I never knew. I continue to implement the techniques while seeing fantastic results. My eyes became open to how often I was not dreaming. I've been meeting with Karin for less than 2 months. Karin is friendly and professional - but more importantly, she will make you get things done. Come to coach with Karin and expect to work. After 2 months I'm thinking more clearly and I have more energy than I've had in years. Her style of coaching approaches the person as a whole: nutrition, exercise, stress, motivation, life goals, fulfillment at work, etc. Because of Karin my far-off life goals are starting to turn into real-time plans. Book some time with her - it'll be the best thing you've done for yourself in years.

Jill Csillag is the best personal trainer out there! She is incredibly talented and knowledgeable and has more to offer than most trainers. Jill has extensive knowledge of(and firsthand experience with)a variety of autoimmune diseases and debilitating injuries; she is living proof that you can work around any health condition to achieve your fitness goals. She is always encouraging, motivating, and inspiring. Jill truly cares; not only about helping you reach your fitness goals, but making sure you cross the finish line safely and injury free! She takes time to listen to your likes/dislikes and custom builds workouts tailored to your specific needs. The workouts are incredibly detailed, easy to follow(step-by-step pictures included), and FUN! Jill switches it up constantly so it never feels like you are just repeating the same tired old routine. You can definitely do the workouts at home with great success. You don’t have to buy a whole bunch of special equipment either, which is awesome if you’re living on a budget. Jill also includes a nutritional component with her training that is wonderful! Her recipes prove that healthy eating can be delicious. All of her recipes are easy to follow, inexpensive to prepare, and so full of flavor you will have a hard time believing that it’s good for you! My co-workers and friends can’t wait to try Jill’s latest recipe, everyone fights over copies! I highly recommend choosing Jill as your personal trainer. She has absolutely changed my life and she can change yours too! ~ Janelle Johnson, SC

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

    What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

    Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
