Herico's team did a great job for me. I never knew him before hand so I took a little chance but I was very happy with their work. They did some outside painting and changed some rotten boards for me. The paint job was very good. So was the edge work and a clean work site when they finished. And all for a reasonable price.

Denny was awesome. Very punctual and flexible with scheduling as well. The dry wall fix and paint job he did was excellent. He also did this in only 2.5 hours which was on point with his estimation. I would highly recommend Denny for his handiwork and will hire him again if I need any jobs done.

I absolutely love my newly painted room and Bob and Jeremiah were truly professional from start to finish. We were very busy the days they came to quote and paint, but they were so accommodating and helpful that they actually made the process easy. I will definitely have them paint another room again soon as they are stand up guys who do great quality work!

We hired David for a complicated water restoration project. Due to an improperly installed 1st floor deck door, water penetrated our basement wall, resulting in a complete wall and ceiling demo. David worked with us to fix the deck door the way we wanted it fixed, and repaired our basement so we can’t tell there was ever any damage (drywall, paint, trim, crown). He was incredibly responsive throughout the process , and came back to make everything look right when touch ups were needed. He worked very efficiently. Highly recommend.

I appreciated that Tonna & her helper did the job in 2 days. I was a bit disappointed that she put me off a week, and then by another day. I know they wanted to finish painting the second day; I think because she had taken on another job the next day. They worked until after 9:00 that night. However, I think they could have done more to clean up before leaving. For example, I didn’t know they had used my ladder in the great room/kitchen. They left the ladder in the room. The garage floor has paint drips & small spills. The small hallway bathroom, which was not painted, had paint in the sink bowl. Tonna did come back and do some re-touch & touch up places. I’m finding small paint drips and drops in various places. Fortunately, the paint does scrape off easily.

Chuck and crew did a fantastic job on my 30+ year old deck. They power washed (and snuck in washing the deck furniture) before staining. This project will give me several additional years with the current deck -- I appreciate it's prolonged life. Deck came out as I was told it would, great value for the work. The crew was on time and very professional. I was called daily for a progress report. I would definitely use CPR again for any future projects. Great team!!

Brooke and her team went well beyond what my wife and I had expected. Not only did she flush out my gutters and downspouts as hired to do, she also washed the outside front panel of all the gutters! It's the 'little things' like this that truly reflects how that company/business is a step above the others! We were so impressed with her work ethics and professionism that we have already scheduled her company, 'Warriors Restoration LLC', to paint 3 rooms in our house, and she is also quoting us on two additional projects ...screening in of a patio area and the removal and installation of a new tiled shower in the Master Bath. Another potential flooring project is bring discussed. I highly recommend 'Warriors Restoration' for any of your home projects.

ProvenPro crew was fantastic. I’ve had paint work done in the past by other companies, I just assumed minor mistakes was just how it goes... I couldn’t find one mistake. I’ve never given a company a perfect review, until now. I got 7 quotes before choosing ProvenPro, they were not the cheapest and they weren’t the most expensive, frankly, I just liked the guy they sent out here to do our quote. He was polite and well spoken, followed up with us and didn’t pressure us. I can see from other reviews I’m not the only one that thinks Tom is great at what he does. I would HIGHLY recommend ProvenPro to anyone wanting a high quality paint job on their house at a good price.

Thompson painting (James ) painted a large powder room and bathroom and an accent wall in our master bedroom. In addition he ended up doing extra things like moving some furniture and filling in some cracks around my tub and other problems that we had. I give James the highest recommendation. He is a great painter takes great pride in his work he is kind and trustworthy and we liked him so much we convinced him to have some spaghetti for dinner after a very hard days work. We will definitely call him again as needed and he's even coming back to finish some little odds and ends in our home after the paint dries. Also he was helpful with paint color advise, and goes out of his way to do a good job

Overall I had a great experience with Tri State Paint Pros, they did a wonderful job on my house, and they was very professional. I liked that they finish the entire job in a timely matter. I expected to have to clean up when they left but they left it claner then when they started. They did listen to me and what I wanted done, they did without hesitation. I will have them return to do my exterior of my house soon. Thanks.

He is truly nice, professional, and well priced. The painting in the garage had some color distortions after drying, and when we contacted him he came right over and made it right!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
