Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I treat each dog and case differently. No two dogs learn alike, just as no two children learn alike. I like being able to see the look on my clients face when I explain something to them or they are able to accomplish something that has previously escaped them. It's very rewarding when things finally come together for them.

I gave the grade "good" because I rarely give people "outstanding". Bethany was punctual, nice, good with the dogs. She also was aware of what we (owners) were doing and corrections that we needed to make so that training would work better for the dogs. She also did a nice follow up email summarizing points we went over. We plan on going to a puppy class, but will definitely keep Bethany's phone number in our arsenal for dog training and behavior modification.

She was so calm and helpful my dog calmed down so quickly to her and she gave me so many good tips on working with my fearful dog I'm very excited for all our future appointments and getting my little girl the help she needs!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am constantly reading articles on training, behavior, psychology, etc, whether it is canine or otherwise. I am on many different groups on Facebook in which I am able to read and discuss these issues; these groups range from the positive only camp over to the balanced camp and I feel that by knowing the different techniques out there, I have a better grasp on training.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

My current Labrador Retriever is my reason. She is now six and at a young age, she became Reactive on leash with both people and other animals. Up until this point, I had had no formal training in teaching a dog obedience or behavior modification. I felt lost. I began to wonder, "What is wrong with me? Why is my dog acting like this?" As I began to learn and grow, I realized how my own behaviors were actually fueling my dogs reactivity. I began to understand how she viewed the situations that I thought were meaningless. And I also began to understand how widespread this problem was and how having a reactive dog makes it easy for me to help others manage and train their own dogs who exhibit this problem behavior.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask questions...lots and lots of questions. You can find out a lot about a professional by asking them questions and you can also gain insight into their training style.
