Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I feel that I have a very "good eye" for proportions which is the most important asset a designer acquires honed through the study of the fine [visual], arts. I can adapt to the client's wishes but I do take pride in providing a look or style which may have not previously occurred. Design work is a journey...the client must hang onto the ride and become prepared to give, take, enhance and become enhanced while engaging in a fulfilling process. My best design endeavors, whether buildings or cabinetry, have always involved client participation where their effort becomes assured to this process. The success of a project is always predicated on the client's intentions addressed and satisfied. The completion of a project well designed and evidence through positive feed-back, pleasure the clients and all of the players display in the process and its conclusion. Architecture, then, becomes a very satisfying and rewarding journey. Thanks, Greg Pavell

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Working with architectural Firms you will be apprized of many building types and this is good from an experience factor. When you gain experience to consult, you find yourself employed by Firm's that seek the common ground of style and where your talents lie pertaining to your portfolio, experience and the previous architects' you have worked with. There is a strong nature to vet expertise based upon what Firm or with whom you have worked. There are few substitutes in professing an expertise to a particular style and with experience, you will often gravitate to Firms and projects which encompass these styles.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I have worked on several projects which have received either AIA [American Institute of Architects], awards or local Historical Restoration Awards [University of Hawaii Student Services Administration Building Honolulu], and Blackwell Barn, Avon, Ohio] A renovation/pergola addition to a local residence can be viewed under 'works in progress' [20013].

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I will schedule a program for the client from the first meeting based upon my interview of their "wish list". My fee will become based upon this scope of work in an outline format which I shall prepare and submit before project commencement. The project phases shall be defined and an agreement or contract, based on [Square Foot cost, hourly, or lump sum], in writing, to protect both parties. This will safeguard the process as phases will be billable allowing the client to "opt-out" or close-out of the agreement. This is a standard method of "Billable Services" in architecture requiring the scope and most importantly the cost to be tracked in real time; the safeguarding being upheld through this mutual agreement.
