Chuck was the photographer for my wedding. He and his daughter did a wonderful job with the photos. They were very patient with us and took all the poses we had suggested. They had some pretty good ideas for photos too. Chuck even gave us some of his time after the night was over to take more photos we wanted that we didnt have time to take before the reception. I don't think there was one photo that was taken we did not like.

We hired Mark for our wedding of 150 guests. He provided the ceremony music as well as the reception. Mark officiated the reception and was AWESOME!!!! Two thumbs up!!!! He kept the wedding party to the timeline. Our guests were very impressed with the music and the high energy that Mark brought to the party! We would give 10 stars if we could!!! Mark was very accommodating with the planning of music and was very helpful when we had questions or wanted to change something. We highly recommend Mark and would definitely hire him again for our next event!!!! Thanks again for the great service and for helping in making our special day AWESOME!!!!!

Mike was awesome! All my wedding guests had a blast with the photo booth! So happy we chose the package with the book of photos so we can look back and laugh at all the craziness we missed. All of his props were clean and his setup was professional. He was great with all my guests as some of them took a liking to the ever so popular shark head. His pricing was reasonable as well. 10/10!

Clyde is my co-worker and friend I didn't even hire him to DJ at my wedding reception he did it out of the goodness of his heart! All I can say is everyone raved about what an outstanding job he did! Even after my husband and I left he stayed for everyone else and they had a fabulous time. I know Western Reserve Yacht Club said they would hire him for any of there functions. I would highly recommend him to anyone!!

I have worked with Jimmy Smith on a number of projects - both professionally during his time at Delaware and personally. He has always been very efficient with getting the projects on time and they have always been of the highest quality. It is because of Jimmy's work at Delaware that I asked him to be in charge of video for my wedding and to say he did a great job would be a tremendous understatement. My wife and I could not have asked for a better product and it is a memory of our day that we will always have. If there is anyone to recommend for video production, Jimmy is at the absolute top of my list!!

We are very pleased with Aeron and the work she did for our wedding! She was very professional throughout the event, and we received several compliments about how well she worked with us, the bridal party, and vendors. We felt at ease during all of our pictures, and it was enjoyable and fun. She had a lot of great ideas for photos and she was also flexible and open to our ideas for spur of the moment pictures. She even took the time to show us some of the photos right after she took them. We would highly recommend her to other couples who need a wedding photographer. We are very excited to see our final pictures!

Beautiful wedding photos! He was early to our location just to make sure there was no added anxiety, and was wonderful to work with! He was flexible with different poses and knew exactly how to use the background and natural lighting for gorgeous pictures, and I can't say enough about the amount of photos we got. To say that the cost was of value is definitely an understatement... you will not find another photographer to give you so many pictures at such an excellent cost.

Little Bit Perfect photographed our wedding a week and a half ago. They were extrememly professional prior to our big day, constantly reaching out and meeting with us to make sure they got all the info and picture requests we wanted the day of. Our day was excellent from the minute our photos started. Emma and Joey made us and our entire wedding party feel comfortable with pictures and they also jumped in to help in areas outside of photography, which was truly helpful and special to us. The pictures so far have turned out beautifully and we can't wait to see the rest of them soon. We HIGHLY recommend Emma and Joey. If you are looking for a young, fun, passionate, considerate couple, these are the two to higher! Thank you guys for a wonderful experience and for capturing our day so perfectly!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.
